How does MP verify? What is addressed used for?
I think there was a good post on here explaining the purpose of MP (1) increases eBay fees by 30% from 10% to ~13% and (2) helps eBay's risk management by (a) having a SSN allows eBay to ding the credit report (b) having a bank account allows ebay to dip into the bank account (c) having a physical (no po box) allows eBay to sue/serve paperwork
How does MP verify?
-I think name, SSN, and birthday all 3 have to match to one person
-Bank account has to match to person's name only
So what does the address matter?
(a) the SSN can link a person to their address (I don't think this possible at all)
(b) Ebay uses the name and birthday and SSN to search public records to very the address (this is possible, but I doubt ebay does this)
(c) Ebay checks the bank account's address (if anything, this is it, but I don't think they do that)
(d) Address is not verified or matched to any info, it's simply there incase Ebay wants to sue and serve you paperwork
Has anyone used a stealth address and everything else real and got accepted by MP?
I ask because many of us have been banned by ebay before and ebay links: name, address, credit card, bank account, phone number (last 3 are easy to change)... leaving us with same name and address. Obviously we can't use stealth name it won't pass verification. But if we can use stealth address than I don't think we have anything to worry about, eBay won't just ban accounts for having same name and all other info different |
