1099k issue with SSN thats not mine

adding the 1099 figures to your tax return does not do anything for you or that person.
The right way to do is to let that person knows and give him the money to pay that extra tax ,but if you cant find that person,not much you can do

Still not sure what I should do about this issue.

I checked and I don't have this persons contact information anymore since their phone number has been disconnected and theyre not on social media or any other platform.

I would leave it but I'm also scared that the eBay account is connected to my real bank account.

Do you think the IRS would ever go that far as to find out who it's linked to?

Made up SSN won't go through - there are algorithms at play...

it is not that easy to change SSN of an account,you may need to call and ask for permission and a good reason to do so.
also IRS is known to seize $$ from his Paypal account,if it is registered under the SSN of a person who owes tax money,dead or alive.whether it will do the same with your bank account under MP,I dunno,go to Ebay seller forum and ask

You are right... The account will get a W9 and will jot be able to accept payments until a matching tax number and name is supplied. No 1099K will be issued and you wont be able to use the account anymore.

BUT no horrible possible tax issues for the person who you used their SS number....

how much is the amount on the 1099K?
That amount will be added to his SSN account on the IRS computer,depends on the amount and his return.
If you cant find him,there is nothing you can do,may be he will find you if he runs into problem.

Last year someone on this forum bought a PAypal account from someone on this forum,it comes with an SSN,he sold some items and there were like $600 in his Paypal account,it was seized by IRS.
He posted here and it was quickly removed by the mods on this forum .watch they could remove this one too.

Ahh this is good information.

Maybe I'll do this since the account is banned anyway. At least he wont get issued the 1099 in the new year.

Is the IRS able to get that information and come after me since the funds were going to my Real bank account?

It is not IRS,it is the person whose SSN you are using,once again,you have not told us how much money is on that 1099,if his income is low that he pays no taxes and that 1099 $ takes him to a level which he should,then IRS will send him a letter.
If he does have income and file return and your 1099k push him to a higher bracket,he could get an audit.
IRS does not know you,all they see is that 1099K paypal or ebay or amzn sent them and they save it under his SSN on its computer.

You never can change the information on suspended accounts until after your resolve all issues.
