Activity: 0% Longevity: 24% | | 1099k issue with SSN thats not mine
Hi
It seems that anything at $600 will be issued a 1099k this year.
I have a MP account that will be getting sent a 1099k that was banned. I obviously don't want that 1099k to go to that person's SSN.
I am not in speaking terms with the person who owns the account's SSN and to be honest I do not know where that person is anymore.
Has anyone filed a 1099k under another SSN that is not their own?
Wondering if it is possible and can I just use an online tax program like turbo tax to do so?

That's not a good move to continue using someone's SSN for whom you aren't speaking to - potential for problems

do you know this person?
do you have permission from him to use his SSN?
Where would this 1099k mailed to?
what state is he in?
If it is a small amount,IRS may not do anything if he fails to report ,it is the state he should worry

My understanding is that it's next year. So OP I doubt you'll be getting one this year on that account.
On the off chance you do, who cares.. nobody is going to chase anyone down for such a small amount.

I am considering just ignoring it although when a bill gets sent to this person I would feel bad.
But for such a small amount, I don't think he would be getting in any trouble with the IRS?
Whatre your thoughts

I KNEW this person.
We had a falling out and we aren't in speaking terms. I had permission when we were in speaking terms to be able to use their SSN.
Located in Ohio.
Do you think I can just ignore it?

Thats my understanding too but my 3 accounts all were asking if I prefer mail & online or Online only for my 1099k. I stayed under the $20k Threshold so im guessing they will still be sending the 1099k this upcoming tax season for under the $20k threshold

The thing is, its such a big cost for filing for one year of tax if im just going to file that it didnt make profit.
ITs about $800 annually, then to dissolve the LLC its another $160.
I'll be in close to $1000 just to file taxes for that account thats already banned. SO I wont be using that LLC as soon as I file those taxes. I wouldve dug deeper into my savings for something thats not worth it IMO

My question still remains if anyone has filed for taxes for another persons SSN.
I still don't see it being a problem if we reported it as zero profit from that year and in that case the persons SSN will not have to file anymore neither would they have to pay any late penalties , etc.

Maybe it's just too early for me... lol

Whatre your thoughts | If a 1099 goes out, you can bet your sweet ass that the IRS follows up with it. And your state's DOR after that. Don't ask me how I know...

Not true in every case. You sound like a federal government employee.
When certain states started mandating 1099's for lower thresholds a few years ago I unintentionally had several "stealth" 1099's go out and nothing ever came of it.

It's true in every case that it's a real person lol... you're talking about stealth. This guy is talking about his mom. If a 1099 comes to your SSN/EIN, action needs to be taken, or the IRS will. That's just a fact.
