Haven't been on ebay in YEARS...have some questions.
 

Joined this forum in 2014 and was fairly active. Been a few years since I've been on here or touched ebay. Now I see everything has changed and have some questions.

Had a seller's account on ebay years ago with my real info and they ended up suspending that. I could still buy on that account (and still can if I wanted) but the seller's account portion was suspended. Might have had something to do with Paypal at the time, I don't fully remember.

Fast forward to now and there is this "managed payments" thing which requires SSN. So the first question I have would be....can I use my real info for that? And can a new ebay account with my real info be used? Or do I need to create an account with different info, but use my real info on "managed payments"?

Any help would be appreciated, as always.

I had luck creating a new account when managed payments first hit with my real info even though my original account from 2006 with my SS linked to PayPal had been banned.

You can either try to revive that ACC seller account or use your info to make a new one.

If thats what you wanted to do yeah. I have always reused my name, but I haven't recycled personal accounts after MP. So although I have had multiple accounts made (some suspended) they were all business accounts. I actually just restored my old eBay account thats pre 2011. For me to start selling I have to opt into MP, which restarts the "welcome to eBay selling". I think as of now those accounts that aren't changing from old status to upgrading MP, their new data system doesn't track those dormant accounts with new ones.

the biggest problem with real info is that you will probably get banned again depending on what you sell at some point, ebay has such a long list of rules that seem to be applied often with little reasoning, once you get banned for a reason thats your own fault or in some cases I here not so much your fault as ebay stupidity, you need a stealth account

back then Ebay did not ask for SSN,as Paypal did.
Using the same name is not a problem as many people have similar names,it is a combo of name,address,SSN ,IP address etc

I am not new to "stealth". I know the OLD stealth methods...I guess what I am trying to figure out is how to get back into selling with managed payments being a thing now.

So if you use your name with a different address eBay doesn't have a system that verifies that automatically? I know that I'm the past you could get higher limits right off the bat if you used real info vs stealth so it seemed like at the time they had some sort of automatic background check system to gauge initial limits.

Another thing about using a different address with your real name...

What happens when they send a 1099 to this other address(es)?

then the resident of that address will either return it back to post office and post office will return it back to Ebay,or the resident just trashed it .

worse,if there is enough information to file a tax return,the crook could file for a tax refund.
My accountant filed a return for his client,a successful medical doctor online,IRS said the return has already been filed and an $80 refund has been issued !
It turns out a clerk who used to work for this doctor used his SSN to file a tax return,he must need the $80 badly

eBay never mail 1099 to sellers, it is just a document download, it all hinges on the SSN as the Federal and State IRS will come knocking on the door of the current address of the SSN holder later on

There are some Ebay sellers who do not have printer,so they will ask Ebay to mail them 1099 form
