Quick approach is to check out the item in question.
Google its particulars.
See how it is described. Usually there will be mention of patent/copyright as part of its
description.
For example:
Pandora Charms. most web entries might say 'offical site' etc. If you use wikipedia, you will find there is talk of a 'patent threading system'. Such info would raise alarm bells that items may be subject to IP rights.
Something else to watch is the matter of 'grey imports'. Items that can be brought in the UK may not be sold on the USA markets. And the reverse applies. IP owners have selling rights highly policed.
