Default phone verification when setting up an auction

So I logged back on a stealth account after it being inactive for a good few months. 1st auction I could setup no problems, but when setting up the 2nd auction I got this - To confirm your phone number, we'll send a PIN to the number shown below." Thing is, I don't have access to that phone# anylonger. What do you guys think - if I add a new phone# at this stage might this raise another red flag and get the account locked? Thanks!

Hey mate,

I got the same message even though I hadn't used the same eBay account for only two days! :O

I'd suggest going on eBay chat and saying you've rang em multiple times and they don't help they should be able to sort you out through chat just be sure that you are polite. I tend to act as though I am the happiest person alive on the chat...

Yeah, but I don't have access to the old number anylonger. Calling them up and telling them to verify a new phone# I'm assuming can trigger a host of other verifications (eg. public records data) and whatnot..

Has anyone been in a similar situation here? (where you don't have access to the original phone# anylonger)

I guess that if you describe them your situation, they will help. As changing numbers is a regular situation . But prepare for additional questions. If your stealth is solid, should be no problem answering them.

I say, as an expert, you try to talk to them in chat nicely and if this doesn't help, you'd only option is to add/change the telephone number because let's be honest- If you don't have access to that phone number now, you will now have in down the road either.
In a way, you don't have much to lose so you need to take some risks and take action.

True. Sometimes telling the truth is required. Anyone can loose a phone or change it for a decent reason.

In these cases what sort of additional verification questions do they generally ask? DOB? Questions from public records?

No one can say for sure what will happen dmitrim, you have to try it see, having some of your ID docs to hand might not be a bad idea just in case, but if you don't try it you are never to know are you?, plus you will never be able to proceed listing anything else, so you don't really have a choice do you!

In a sick and perverse way, I kind of actually look forward to my first call... Just to see if I can bull**** my way out of it. I shouldn't say these things, but still... I think we all have to do it at least ONCE in our eBay Stealth career.
Rite of passage, or something similar.

Since when is there ebay chat for usa? Because for usa it was removed a long time ago.
