Question Can Ebay track hosted images in the "Description"

I used an image in my description using <img src="myowndomain.com/123.jpg"> like this in one account.

Then I made another stealth account and exactly copy/pasted the description without realizing that the same image was in the description that was hosted on my own domain.

My Ebay account was suspended within hours.

Do you think Ebay tracks images in description also?

Seems a divided opinion. Anyone has experience in this?

It is just what eBay does, I have personally been suspended a few times because of same images in description and after doing some research, I found that the images can definitely link accounts and therefore it can lead to a suspension should any other linked accounts go down.

eBay can track images by the domain they are hosted on. They can also match pictures by running your picture against pictures from banned accounts. They have software that matches it. And it is DEADLY ACCURATE!

Always use different pictures once an item (or your account) has been banned.

jeffweico's advice is right on. eBay can easily detect and auto-ban based on this link

I definitely agree with you but don't you think with so many people using the same stock photos they wont show you the door but watch you like a hawk?

Also I would like to know what you're doing differently to each account for different pictures?

I personally ph0t0sh0p pictures and picture backgrounds.

So that mean if you have 10 EBAY accounts, you have to create 10 photobucket accounts?

But we can use the same images right? Really hard to take as many images as possible

Ive uploaded every picture from my computer for years.
Never needed photobucket.
As long as pics are different and ran through an exif eraser and uploaded from different user accounts should be no problem.

Well, the STOCK PHOTOS in eBay's catalog are different. You can use those all you want without problems.

As to using the same photos, I wouldn't. I'm sure a lot of people just get their pictures from Google and sometimes they may have thousands of the same pictures for general items. But I wouldn't be using the same pictures that you took before. It becomes one more thing that eBay can look at as a similarity.

And I DEFINITELY would not host pictures on a domain you own.

Change the image slightly and upload to a different host, then there is no way they can track you.

I always use a different photobucket account for each EB account, and never re-use photos. I also use an exif cleaner.

No big deal.

Jeff always knows his stuff, his advice is good as gold.

Yes ebay can track the url of the images and your two accounts can be linked this way and possibly limited.
