Has description ever made a difference?

I know item description is very important but has it made a difference to anyone's listings in terms of search ranking? i.e: Using keywords etc

Yep 100% I have even added common misspelled words to catch that traffic as well .

When you search, it only picks up words for title. Description/Subtitle are not included.

There are some services out there that help creating the best title to get the most searches....also misspelled words do help.

In my experience the content of description makes no difference in rankings.

Then why ebay offers an option to search "in title only" ? Doesnt it mean it searches in title PLUS description by default ?

I have never seen it before and I just looked. Also, ebay clearly states that title is how the search works on the business side of things.

What he must of meant was, why does ebay offer the option of title + description (which is an option you select when you click advanced search). By default, the search is based on title only.

yes sorry, there is a box to tick if you want to include the description. By default the search is based on title only you're right
