Activity: 0% Longevity: 48% | | exif data, and new account :)
hello guys,
ive just set up my first stealth account after a long while of being kicked off ebay and just would like to ask a few questions regarding the pictures.
i know that you have to clear the exif data from the images and i know there is alot of programmes that will do this.
for refrence i am going to be taking photos from my apple phone and i will be using the stealth account from my apple mac, both of which i used before i got kicked off ebay.
which programme do you guys prefer? are any faster and easier to use than others?
i have used imgur, and have heard of image optim but would like a push in the right direction.
with a few sales of household items first and building my account slowly i aim to get back on there within a couple of weeks time,
thanks for all your help

Been using Batchpurifier for years, free and faultless.
Note: free version only works for jpeg format images (which is most common anyway).

Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.
If your in any rush, there are website's like these online that can view and remove exif via your online browser - View Exif online, remove Exif online
It is much faster though to have a local application, especially for larger, bulkier images.

I use imageoptim on mac
Just drag the photo in and 3 seconds later it's clean. Can do batches of them too rather than one at a time.
I always rename the photos too so they're not in a pattern.
Good luck.
Slow and steady.

I use Photoshop and use the option "Save for Web" and then "Metadata: None".
I rename the files names randomly too.
The files are uploaded from my root folder "C:\". I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I do it anyway.

I always had in the back of my mind that although ebay cannot see the username of a particular Windows account, surely they can see the source from which the images are being uploaded from i.e. C:\Users\ StealthExpertFromTheOneAndOnlyAspkin\Desktop\Images\pic.jpg
Whilst I doubt ebay use this as a way of linking today, who knows if they implement such feature tomorrow. The biggest guys at risk would be those using portable browsers all from one user account.

Oh god. I'm due to start changing from numbered user accounts to portable browsers in one user from Tuesday!!
Is this something I need to consider?
Is there a generic folder that the photos need to be in that a high proportion of users would have? As I use both Mac and Windows, answers applicable to both would be very much appreciated.

I know you use a Mac, but for anyone that's looking to figure this question out for a Chromebook, Pixlr editor works. You would use Pixlr Editor to crop your photos to a 1:1 ratio so they fit perfectly on EB. When you save, the photo is duplicated, on the new cropped photo the data will not carry over from what I can tell. I've checked by down loading it back to my phone through Google Drive after editing.
Just to be safe, since I haven't found a way to check exif data on the Chromebook its self without a 3rd party app, I started using Photo Exif editor on my android phone, after I take the pictures, before I upload them to Google Drive to carry them over to my Chromebook to be edited in Pixlr editor.
If your wondering if Chromebook is good to use with Stealth? The only problem I've come across is you can't print labels off Stamps.com or Endicia because their program needs to be downloaded. This can be solved by using ShipStation. Which you should be using anyway.

I have been using a chromebook but from what I have read exif data isnt applicable through chromebook, I have seen photographers complain about this when using the CB. This is beneficial for CB users, and if pulling photos of the web, it almost makes better sense to screenshot it directly and upload.
IMO besides using VMWare, chromebook is definitely the way to go. Quote:

Pictures has to be properly cleaned with a suitable tool.

But for what I am doing it makes more sense for me to screenshot certain things and list. Ill also post what I find, I know I looked on 2 chromebook help forums and others have said its not readable or that it can be added by using extensions. Quote:

Ive started using ps for some vinyl decals and was wondering if the process takes long to make nice images with decent text in them? not sure if text is banned in images now though?
cheers..
