Here We Go Again | 11-02-2010 09:13 PM | Amazon & Pricing Structure...... So I was looking through Amazon tonight getting ready to list some items.
I pulled up the listing for one of the items.
1 - A "Just Launched" seller had it listed at $17.95 and he had a feedback of 50%.
2 - The next highest person was at $18.00 with a feedback of 0% & "Just Launched"
3 - Then the next highest person was at $27.50 Feedback of 0% & "Just Launched"
So my question is this....
Why in the world would the 2nd spot person jump down $9.50 ?
That is just DUMB in my book.
I see this crap all the time.
If you guys want to make money then charge the going rate.
Don't jump down $10 just to make a sale.
Jump down $1 or $2
If you want to give your inventory away then let me know, I will take it. |
jeffweico | 11-02-2010 09:18 PM | They do this under the theory that if they price it low enough they will get a huge volume of sales. But I'm guessing they lose their Amazon accounts pretty rapidly.
In your example, all were "just hatched" and the one with the 50% feedback, I'm guessing, got a complaint about scratched and dirty DVD's.... |
jbluntz | 11-02-2010 09:24 PM | I think usually what happens is the 2 people on the top with the lowest price inch their way down by a penny or dollar at a time then 1 of em sells out leaving 1 guy left $10 or whatever below the going rate, that's happened to me before, I usually try to stay equal or a penny below the lowest price but there's always a new guy coming with a lower price. |
newtools | 11-03-2010 12:38 AM | I see this allot, I like to inch it .01 or a few cents at a time. There's no point to loosing so much. good past 2 days. |
Too many changes will kill your account. Price it lowest to match - switch to diff account do your things there - come back next day and if need be, reset. |
newtools | 11-03-2010 11:19 PM | change once a day in the ballpark is fine. |
tvillabolos | 11-12-2010 02:49 AM | Did you just actually say that changing your prices on Amazon too much will kill your account? This is simply not true in any sense. Just had to point this out. Quote:

Used to be that too many changes will cause scrutiny of your account - if I am now wrong, apologies. |
Yeah rsot I work with a business partner and he always taught the same thing, but recently we used a repricer that changed every hour and didn't seem have a problem. |
Repricer? Ha right on the ball with competition - good stuff. |

So right now my business partner is trying to code our own repricing script. |
Ha putting the hex into amazon - maybe you got some other services I could use... |
We're almost done with the script, I'm not a coder so I don't know anything about it but he does and he says the only problem he has is making it to communicate with amazon and getting the price and setting etc... |
