Default VCC "invalid" after only 3 months

I bought a VCC off a reputable seller on this forum 3 months ago. I was told it was for 12 months. The expiry date is 08/13. Amazon have now frozen all access to my account until I provide a valid credit card. Is there something extra I need to ask for when buying an Amazon VCC? I am in the UK.

@nags, did you pm the seller? Next step - perhaps the moderators here. Get a physical giftcard like 3v if you need to do something quickly.

Does the vcc still have funds loaded on it?

its probably nothing to do with the expiry date and not the sellers fault

i would imagine that they have tried to charge the card and found it wanting

most cards have zero OR nominal amounts on them

AZ can and do charge cards for want of a better word "randomly"

hence they are askind for a "valid card"

IE one they can test charge

add a different card with funds available

bear in mind they can charge up to $10 or the equivalent in £'s

tsmt makes a valid point - the vcc might not be loaded with enough to cover AZ's FURTHER test charges...not just $1 but can be much more

yeah, as all others have said: you have to keep funds on the vccs. Amazon isnt like eb/pp. they want everything up to date. There are other threads about how UK sellers should keep around 5-20 pounds on their vccs. Amazon seems to be random with their charges.

Yes, as everyone has said, Az like to "randomly" charge test amounts to the card on file, normally just before a disbursement's due.

Just to check everything is in order. You haven't cancelled credit card, your bank account has some funds in it etc etc.

A VCC is fine if YOU control it, you can make sure there is £10 on each one when they do the test authorisations, but when you don't control them, no good. Especially for Az.

amazon co uk have been doing weird things over the past weeks regarding 'cards' on sellers' accounts.

This appears to be another effort of theirs.

Makes me nervous to get AZ emails.

Got another VCC off the same seller.
He says the cards are loaded, not sure how much tho.
Amazon accepted it, all seems OK for now.
Where could you get a VCC that you control the funds??

Your just going to have the same problem.

Yes the may be loaded, but they aren't going to be loaded with £10-£12 like you need as you could just spend it, when you only pay £10-£15 for the VCC in the first place.

Search the forums, plenty of advice regarding amazon.

When I get the "invalid credit card" email from Amazon, I simply enter the same card info with the billing address slightly different (add/remove apt# or change "Blvd" to "St" etc.)
Unless your card actually expires after 3 months, this should work.

I took 6 days in total to get the account back on.
in the meantime, amazon hadn't blocked sales!!!
So I have 6 days of overdue orders!
If I escape from this without getting banned, it will be a miracle
