Default Selling Media on Amazon - changed again?

I was on Amazon looking for couple of DVD's to purchase for a friend. I always buy directly from Amazon, as I am more confident I will get an original and not a counterfiet.

Before, when I was on Amazon, if they were selling a new DVD for $15.99, there would be like 30+ other sellers listed also, with prices starting at maybe $8 or $9.

Now, I noticed there are maybe 3-5 other sellers, ALL OF THEM with prices HIGHER than Amazon's. I also noticed there were not any "Just Launched" sellers.

Does anyone know if there has been an official change in Amazon's media listing policies?

I don't sell on Amazon, but from what I remember I think AZ removes all items that's priced too low. I have seen this before with media since I buy them there too.

And they also target just launched sellers.

I noticed now on certain listings of media I am not allowed to select 'NEW' as the condition. Only used or collectible. I think AMZN is putting the pedal down on pushing the little guy out. Get your money while you can everyone. I mean it.

this time of year you are limited in what you are approved to sell... a lot of things get removed from the "regular" sellers section so you cant even sell those without prior approval by amazon...

it will probably open back once the holiday season is over...

I've been out of that category for awhile, but thanks for the responses. I was curious if this was something official.

It depends on the item. If the company contacts Amzn and says they only want Amzn selling their products as new, to prevent counterfeits from being sold, then they will do that. I know this because it happened to me and I asked them why.

My new account sells mainly DVDs and I have not been restricted at all. But not selling high risk things and using FBA, maybe that is the difference?

Amazon has booted many DVD sellers(counterfeit sellers). HBO got on their A@@! The ones that know how to get back are the 3-5 still selling.
