Default Getting round Browser Fingerprinting on macbook

Hi there.

I am just reading through the Amazon Ghost guide and the first step is to get rid of all the flash cookies etc. It says to do a reinstall of the operating software but makes no reference to a mac. Does this need to be done on a mac or is there some other way of getting rid of all the fingerprint stuff?

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

I've just noticed underneath that part in the guide, it says I can use a new user account instead of a full reinstall of the software. Yet earlier on it says I shouldn't do that. It's contradicting itself.

Does anyone know if using a new user account on my macbook will be ok for Amazon Stealth? Obviously I will be following the other steps regarding changing the mac address etc. But it's just this first step is a little confusing.

Don't worry too much about MAC address - that's a myth

Really? It makes a very big point of the MAC address being tracked by Amazon.

Not sure how that helps with my question. I am on the forums and trying to find out what to do.

Am I being stupid? Sorry.

Yes it is written there but many posts here have shown otherwise - look up posts by barrycruan - there are updates on the forums that should be read

Thanks for that.

I have seen a few people say things like 'check the updates on the forums' yet there is no mention of any updates. Is there some special thread dedicated to it that is hidden away somewhere, or would I have to dredge through every post?

There is no special thread, maybe there should be a sticky to with new information. The book is very old now, lots of things have changed. However it shows the basics.
MAC is not traced, neither is browser fingerprinting.

@ Chesterflaps you don't need to worry about flash cookies. Just simply make a new user account and install a new browser ie google chrome, Firefox Mozilla etc. that will pretty much take care of everything

Thanks RSOT.

There are some old threads from when I had to argue about MAC addresses that go into a lot of detail.

But as things stand Amazon don't track your MAC address. That might change one day though.
