I brought a Vanilla Visa card to use with my Amazon account yesterday and registered it--it only asked me to put in a zip code--to the address I have on file in my Amazon account. Yet, it did not pass inspection and Amazon says the information entered is invalid. So I do not know what I am doing incorrectly but am in the same boat as the OP.

Visa $25 Gift Card - Walmart.com


Tried the 25 dollar one, registred the zip still did not work, i did use it on the same account that i tried the other cards, could that be the reason>

It does say in their rules

"If you have entered new credit card information and still see an error message note that it may take up to 48 hours for this message to clear since Amazon Payments has to contact your bank for authorization."

So will wait to see

I can also say it worked 3 weeks ago.

No longer is accepting the card, card has $50 on it. AMZ shows up as $0.00 per-authorization. You won't get passed registration, will buy retry and get back.

i use vanilla visa and matercard giftcards and the accounts created with those are working perfectly fine and disbursements also as scheduled
but I am unable to make new accounts as of may 28th when i last attempted to make an account and it says invalid credit card details .

have people successfully made new accounts with giftcards that are issued by banks such as RBC in canada or even those that are issued by banks are giving issues

any help would be appreciated

the title of this thread... kinda makes a false STATEMENT that is not true.

Yes some are having issues with the Gift cards. But not all.


I used the the visa vanilla silver gift card today to open a new account here in USA - everything went just fine.

I don't know whats going on...

Like I said in post 32. I opened an account just to check with the usual Vanilla gift card from Safeway and it worked fine. Maybe the other users set up is wrong and this is a new way for amazon blocking them.

Im having problems too when using the silver vanilla. Never tried the black either.
Has anyone confirmed that the $25 Purple box vanilla work or not?

Calm down everyone... There have always been some Vanilla cards that work and some that do not. I would look for the card posted above and try that.

Even if ALL Vanilla cards stop working, then we just have to find a way around it - I can think of a few.

First, Vanilla is not the ONLY gift card out there. Many credit unions still have them. We just have to find the ones that work.

Also, you can add addresses onto your bank cards by telling the bank you need it to be a confirmed shipping address. Of course, that would be more of a pain. But it CAN be done.

I DO have the feeling, though, that Amazon is tightening up their security. It happens from time to time and there is nothing we can do about it - we just have to adapt.

Ok, guys so I've been following this thread, and it appears Amazon will reject any gift cards as a valid CC.

I tried:
1. Entropay - made several different cards, nothing works.
2. AMEX bought from Walmart, $100 card in gold envelope, failed.
3. Vanilla Card $25, no success.

Need to start brainstorming, this is huge, this will hinder our ability to make new accounts.

Start to research which VCC will verify Billing addresses, or were all going to have a difficult time with this.

I always get the purple packaged ones and I have not had any problems. HOWEVER - I have also not created a new account for a couple of weeks now.

It seems they're detecting all Gift Cards and declining them now

I heard that the first 6 digits of the gift card (referred to as the BIN number) are an identifier that tells you what bank issued the card and what type of card it is - debit, credit card etc.

Very simple for Amazon to know exactly if you're trying to use a Gift Card on your seller account.

This is true. There are some website let you search by BIN, it will let you know what bank issue the card, toll free number. It even let you know what kind of card is that and the card holder home state

I am not the OP but here is the VISA that I used and won't pass for Amazon verification. 4847 are the first 4 digits. I uploaded it to my Amazon more than 48 hours ago, so I've given it time.

Now I will say this... I only have 2 new accounts i've opened using that same kind of card. Very new accounts.

It seems the accounts are created just fine using that card. But...

I have checked my gmail email this morning and see I have recieved an email from Amazon.

Email says...

(... You have a balance due on your Amazon selling account. We attempted to charge your credit card for this balance, but your credit card's issuing institution declined the charge.)


You see...I sent my inventory into FBA warehouse. This required agreeing to the shipping cost, when I print the shipping label.

So I guess they tried to charge the Vanilla card for the balance. Which failed... so

Guess I will try to go to a credit union and get a gift card and see if that will provide me a solution.

Oh well...

Tried making a few AZ accounts this morning as certainly, have failed (used silver Vanilla cards). Card worked mid May 2015 when I created a few accounts, and now, no longer works. Sad, sad moment :(

Anyone with any findings, pls post result.

Appears to have already happened. After my gif card failed, the next day i recieved the following email :

no, it was a US Account. Card number i used started with 5420 . Although the guy who sold me this said its for Amazon non-US.

I dont think that really matters in the scheme of things?

Uh oh, could this be because soo many Chinese sellers are flooding the market lately on Amazon and cashing in on their counterfeits so they tightened the security up?

Anyone find a specific card that is working? I just finished cleaning up my system for a new stealth account and was going to buy a Vanilla Visa Gift Card. :(

Some Vanilla cards are working, as I said I opened an account earlier this week. It does appear that certain gift cards are now being blocked. I suspect the main reason is that amazon cannot make a charge over $25 on these cards and are stung with with AZ claims, unpaid seller fees etc.

Like i said in the past selling on amazon is on the fast decline soon we will not be able to sell on the website tbey are doing all they could to not make,you sell wasting money on cc. Bank,acounts etc. Just have to wait and see they dont want smal,sellers only big corporations i said it in the past we cant compete amazon is now a wasteland!!!

tried the rbc bank gift card and it doesnt work as well.give the same invalid credit card
issue like the vanilla gift card

the silver or purple vanilla cards anyone has successfully used here,was their denomination higher than 25 dollars
