Re: Legitimate Amazon Sellers unable to use REAL DEBIT Cards
I looked through several pages and this seems to be affecting a lot of sellers.
The Amazon rep swears that debit cards are fine as long as they have the VISA or MASTERCARD logo, but many people have said their bank cards are no longer working. Several Amazon reps have said this was a glitch.
Some people waiting for disbursements have had their access restored by calling Seller Support and asking them for help. Others have said that if you remove ALL of the old credit cards they have on file for you and enter ONLY your current debit card, you will be fine.
A rep from Amazon also states that they are no longer accepting prepaid credit cards such as Payoneer, but that bank issued debit cards are fine.
The fact that all of this is happening during the rollout of the new Seller Central pages leads me to believe this is a glitch. That and the fact that some sellers who were complaining seem to have had their issues resolved while others have not.
It would be a very iffy business decision on Amazon's part to block the use of debit cards altogether. The thing is, some 40% of US citizens have bad credit and CANNOT obtain an actual credit card. It just seems to me that they would be losings tens of thousands of perfectly legitimate sellers by doing this.
I suppose time will tell.
In the meantime, I and others are working to find new credit cards that work for Amazon account verification. One thing, it is nice to know this is affecting a lot of people who have been selling for years, because if enough people are complaining and being locked out of Amazon, they are more likely to change the system back or fix it. I cannot see how it makes sense to block 40% of the population from selling on Amazon.
