*NEW* Amazon request for address verification
 

Looks like as of Feb 2021 some people are seeing emails to verify their business address on their existing accounts.

Shops that were never postal verified appear to be getting an email requesting to update their business address to an address that can receive a post card in the mail with a code, to verify their address on file.

As they're giving you the ability to add a business address, this shouldn't be too hard to solve.

You will still need access to a mailbox or mail forwarding service that allows you to receive mail. If you already have a mailbox/return service that accepts returns you may be able to use it to verify the code. Personally I recommend getting a virtual office mailbox address, that offers online mail scanning.

If you google without quotes "receive mail scan online" or something along those lines you'll see multiple companies that offer the service. All of them should work fine but you will still need to sign up and likely get verified with them. They will provide you with an address that can receive mail as well as services to scan your mail to view it online. Most allow you to pay for only a month of service and shouldn't cost more than $10-30.

Because of the existence of mail scanning services, it is exactly why it wont work.


There is an entire industry of marketplace bank providers just because of the existence of amazon. Now there will be an industry of marketplace postal verification providers.

When ebay an amazon introduce forced and free returns. An industry of mail and parcel forwarders were introduced.

These mail forwarders will be LEGAL in free world countries, what can amazon do to get government to ban them? Nothing, people have right to provide this service.

The standard way government regulations forces KYC/address's verification on amazon, banks and payment providers is via scans of utility bills.

The regulation does not say to verify address via code send to house.

paypal introduced postal code verification (by sending 4 digit code) in japan 5+ years ago. But never introduced it to the rest of the world

AMAZON always rollout in other marketplaces they start with USA and within year they implement across all marketplaces,

This is Amazon tho, where security continues to increase

I imagine webcam/postal will eventually be on all shops

Has anyone done this process yet? It seems to be that once you get the post card in the mail you will then have to verify your identity too? Can anyone confirm this as my ghost account I do not have any of that info....

That's only the case if you are signing up, verification happens after postal code verification.

This thread is for those getting the request to verify address, after there shop has already been verified/made

There's a FAQ box on the verify page that states.

"Once you enter your code on the screen, you will get a real time decision. If your address was validated then you can proceed to submitting your identity documents. If we cannot validate your address then you can restart the process by requesting a new postcard either to the same address or a different address."

It says you can proceed to submitting your identity documents. Does that mean after the address verify they will request identity docs?

No, nothing gets verified instantly with amazon... it'll take time.

It has been told the ID document verfication may come even you done the postcard verification. I just received a message that address need to send postcard. :-(

There is only a postal code being sent to the address on file there is no additional verification being done on existing shops

I think only people with USA address get it

You can put any country business address along as its in Amazon supported counties list

You'll lock yourself out and likely have to call in to re-verify and then re-verify postal

Anyone run into a situation in which Amazon never dispatches/sends the postcard out? Gave it a couple weeks and still no luck. Just requested a new one but if it stalls much longer I won't be able to verify in time.

It shouldn't take longer than 1-4 days, they send it via UPS/Fedex

I got an email saying a post card will be sent and to update my business address if I needed to. I changed my address to the return address I had on file (at UPS store) and the post card was sent. Entered the code and was immediately confirmed no problem.

I should add Amazon provided "tracking" of the post card so you can watch for it. I got the post card in maybe 2 days and the tracking still hadn't even shown as shipped LOL.... maybe to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ people out using "temporary" addresses.

Just to make sure. They allowed you to change the address on file in order to receive post card?
