Individual seller 15k limit possible or not?

Does amazon allow you to reach 15k limit as a seller or will they always ask you to convert your account to business and accuse you of signing up with wrong account type?

Also during time they ask you to change business type, can you disburse?

It's nowhere near 15K I think my last private seller account got the 'convert' message at about 4K, maybe even less I can't remember exactly now.

You will not be allowed to disburse once the conversion is initiated.

As an aside, I lost a private seller account because within a fortnight of opening it they realised I was selling new wares and told me my I was a business and needed to convert.

Nope, your funds will be frozen until you convert.

Disburse as often as you can and see the rolling reserve as lost money when it happens.

you can even have a higher limit as private seller , you just need to sell low volumes , only used items and only one copy of each

if they see you have new merch with multiple copies your turnover won't matter

I remember in past about 2 years ago selling on individual accounts could reach 15k

Or even if didn't reach 15k they will let you disburse

Was it same for you 2 years ago or for you it was always that once they asked to switch business type could no longer disburse ?

I can tell you exactly, my last disbursement was February 2021, I still have monies with them because I failed to convert to a business. I had made £3,822 in sales.

I suspect if I pushed them they'd release it, I did nothing to breach their selling practices, it was squeaky clean, I simply chose not to convert it. Just haven't got round to it because it's a fairly small sum.

There has never been a hard 15K figure.

As murdered_by_ebay said, theoretically if you sold used items at a rate typical for a private seller disposing of their own goods then it could well sail past 15K. How far they'd let this go without questioning you I cannot say but there's many examples of folk claiming to do this who've had their accounts suspended pending conversion or an explanation.

But that's not the profile you're going to portray is it?

If I remember rightly, and this is going back many years, I got one selling new wares up to around 10K before the hammer fell.

One thing is for sure, they've tightened up dramatically over the last few years, triggered by the laxed way they were treating VAT management.

Something has clearly made you think a supposed 15K limit may no longer apply and whilst my own experiences are hardly a definitive answer I'll wager it's fairly typical. I guess there's only one way to find out...

OP why not just convert to business seller as sole trader; I have a limit of 100 items per month and 35k per month. Verification process will be done on your current details so should pass if it's legit details.

These days it will be impossible to get that high limit because VAT threshold is at £85k annually and with HMRC legislation around the corner they wouldn't want a private seller to go above that.

We're talking about Amazon not ebay, no restrictions/limits on sales.

Converting to a business or even better, starting as one is the solution but folk have their reasons for not wanting to do it, or in the case of stealth, being unable to do it - legitimately anyway.

Agreed, and why I suspect turnover before suspension is falling.
Can't be too far away where, as you imply, they simply say 'we don't want any new private sellers'.
