your pathetic lies have been misleading people , it is obvious from your posts that you have a few old accounts and have no idea how verification really works , it is in fact your claim about the missing middle name that is priceless as both amazon and ebay are obliged by law to collect the full name from the seller and they both would not accept a missing middle name during verification if it is present on the ID

I am ready to provide proof as soon as you upload your personal details here and details on your amazon and ebay accounts which you seem to have many of
Finally, we got there. Thank you for acknowledging I was right to challenge your fabrications and acknowledge if you do not make any account changes you do not have to re-summit documents and an annual basis. What was it you said..."here in the UK amazon ask for additional docs frequently , on some accounts it is every year , sometimes utility , sometimes HMRC or combination of multiple docs"

Quite an about-turn in 24 hours, but I respect you, as someone who does not have any Limited Company experience, for going away and googling some info and admitting you are wrong.

Finally, why you need to refer to verification I do not know, nobody has denied the documentary requirements for that, I merely had to correct your ridiculous comments that sellers have to produced the same old documents annually. Seems you're easily confused.

Does a change of details (say office address) on companies house trigger an Amazon reverification? They would have to have a system where they are automatically notified of changes.

@Hank you totally wrong I agree with murdered-by-ebay
Amazon uk is much more harder then any other site which includes usa Canada and Europe
Amazon do verification almost 1 year or atleast in 2-3 years depending how much you selling
Regardless it’s sole trader account or Ltd
Specially proof of address they ask even if the account video verified
I even running account from 2014 and they still ask after 1-2 years verification documents even though nothing been changed in the business
Anyone who say amazon UK don’t ask random verification is not true
By the way I only do FBA no risk they still do this all the time

No I'm not totally wrong. I repeat, I have never had to re-verify any of my Amazon accounts where the information remains unchanged and I've been there with Sole Trader and Limited Company accounts for close to 20 years now.

If annual verification was a thing then the main Amazon forums and other sales-related forums would be swamped with threads about it, they ain't.

EDIT: Given they have real time access to Companies House and can now check active UTR's and VAT registration online, what documents are they actually asking for from you?? I'm simply not buying it that they ask for utility bills like MBE implied.

Due to recent laws in the USA I dispute that the UK is harder to open accounts on Amazon, you will find that the USA Amazon verification process is as hard or harder than the UK.

I have multiple accounts. Mostly over 10 years old. All of them have gone through reverfication at some point. This has ranged between 1 - 5 years. Mostly they want UTR letter and proof of address but, Sometimes they have wanted DL or Passport. When this has happened it has been the end of the account. No details have ever changed on the accounts.

In the good old days I would add every marketplace going to my standard UK/EU base account. Click of a button, few formalities, and you were selling in the US and Japan in no time.

Based upon some of the horror stories I've seen on the Amazon forums I wouldn't even contemplate adding US to my newer accounts. Endless tales of UK sellers failing US verification and losing their main account too!

Whilst I cannot say one way or the other which is easier as I have no recent experience it wouldn't surprise me if US sellers had it harder or at the very least just as hard.

I wonder why the discrepancy on accounts, Why 12 months, why 5 years? IMO something must be amiss with your account if you're getting verification requests potentially every 12 months and not being able to provide the docs required and they are suspended.

I can categorically assure you I have never been asked for ID other than initial account creation and my passport has expired in that time even if that was potentially a trigger to ask for it again.

In addition to my Limited Company accounts, as I stand here now I have two sole trader accounts, one in my wifes name, one in my son-in-laws name. Never been asked for ongoing UTR letters but they were set up as business accounts from the outset. Were yours private seller accounts which were updated to business?

So what is a 'UTR letter'? Are you simply supplying your annual return letter/reminder, surely you don't have to get the one supplied by HMRC via their online portal which new starters would normally use.

That's why everyone is saying random.

This has happened to my own account with my own details as well. For my stealth accounts to last over 10 years there can't be anything amiss. They were all setup as business accounts from the start. It's impossible to supply not legit passport or DL now. They can tell. For all the other info I have supplied it has been verified fine. Bank statement, utility bill, UTR letter. It's also my understanding they can't check the UTR number. There is an algorithm but they can't check if it is correct for each person. I stand to be corrected on this. The Amazon forum shows this happens to sellers all the time, so it has nothing to do with stealth details. Even those with legit details have sometimes struggled to get verified.

You come across very aggressive. I don't know if this is intended or not. Either way it doesn't bother me. Just because something hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You only have a small number of accounts, and maybe you don't have the funds going through the accounts others do.

I have to disagree, 'everyone' is not saying it's random, quite the opposite!

I am forthright, nobody is at risk of physical harm.

Anyway, if some of you are having to provide ID, utility bills, every year then so be it. I ain't.

I'm saying it's random. I've been asked for ID for 3 accounts out of 15 over the last 5 years. I've never had to provide any documents every year.

Trust me I have no worry about that.....

I guarantee it will happen to you at some point.

That's fair enough, I can handle it.

As an aside, one of the accounts I create in 2019 was verified with a new 10 year passport. If I got asked for ID on that account again is anyone suggesting that they would not accept the same scan as I submitted back then? Is it being said that it must be another scan, not that that would be an issue.

I guess I'll find out in due course...

If the passport is not real they will fail it. 100%

Look on the Amazon seller forum. Loads of posts on there about reverification.

Do they have access to the UK govt database or something?

That's the only fool proof way to tell if the information on the ID is real or not.

It's not. There's software which can tell if a document is ⊗⊗⊗⊗.

AFAIK they do not for passports, that why its my chosen method of providing ID.

There is a Document Checking Service but Amazon do not have access, but whilst they're not on it now it will surely happen in time given the erosion of our privacy.

I found passports have check digits on the machine readable part (bottom of photo page). Not sure if they are checked by Amazon (I got one passed a couple of months back without correcting this).
Easy enough to find site that gives you the right check digits for the sequence of numbers provided.
