I know it's hard to think logically in these situations, however, I don't think Amazon's top priorities are to make interest off a dramatically insignificant amount of cash compared to their revenue streams.

The issue with Amazon that they want to maintain a reliable marketplace with a good reputation. One problem eBay faced was the ease at which people could get scammed. And still, a lot of people (ususally people that are less educated into the goings on of eBay), think of no it's to dodgey, I'll go elsewhere.

Amazon certainly does not have this reputation, and because their marketplace is growing all the time, they do not want this reputation to come over them with fraudulent transactions.

Low risk items such as second hands books in low volume obviously wouldn't prove to much of a problem to them, as it's not an item that someone would go out of their way to scam someone over. However, if you say you've generated $3,900 worth of sales - that's a fairly substantial amount. If you buggered off without sending the item, and, for all they know - providing false details, this would negatively impact Amazon.

As you say, they are out to make momeny. Clearly, because they're not a charity. But at the same time, Amazon is not a marketplace for sellers, it's a private platform selling their own sourced products, and not specifically for sellers. The fact you can sell your items is in fact a bonus, hence they have such strict rules.

Agreed, they could go a little more "seller friendly" with their approach to it all, but I guess it's all in the interest of the reputation Amazzon has built up.

Angry Amazon putting the screws to me too for $6,297.08!

Amazon is screwing me and I still do not even know why. They are holding $6,297.08 for 90 days. I've asked many times for Amazon to tell me what I did wrong. They never answer that question, but just respond in a polite, matter of fact, "screw you" manner. You can verify my user id, "goldsilvermart", on both Amazon and ebay has nothing but positive feedback. Below is the last correspondence I've received from Amazon. I advise everyone to stay away them. Anyone interested in a class action suit?

Greetings from Amazon.com.

Thank you for contacting us. The funds currently in your selling account will be transferred to your bank account after the 90-day period has expired, provided we do not receive charge backs or A-to-Z Guarantee claims against your sales.

As you know, your account will be evaluated 90 days after the initial date of block or closure request, which was August 4, 2011.

Your reserved funds will be disbursed on or after November 2, 2011, to your bank account on file.

Best regards,

Hello Jimena and others,

Could you move up the 90 day period to begin on July 13? That was the day I was first notified that my funds were being held (see "money held"
attachment).

This whole issue seems to originate from a mistake made by someone at Amazon. What I mean by that is that I've never been told what I did wrong. On June 13 I received a warning stating I provided contact information in my listings (see "Notice Policy Warning" attachment). I wrote back and told them I did no such thing and asked them to show me an example. No one produced an example of what they said I did. Then precisely one month later on July 13 I received a notice that my account was under review and my funds were being held. I provided all the information asked for and I patiently waited for a response. Then on August 3rd I asked that my review be expedited because of the large sum of money being held. I received a response the next day (see "Selling Privileges Removed" attachment) that my seller account was suspended with only a vague, generalized reason given. It looks very much to me that this was a reaction to my request for expediting my review. Have a heart and either show me why you cannot trust me or close my selling and buying account and send me my money. I need to be able to pay my mortgage and other bills. I promise I will never do business with Amazon again.

Thank you,

Subject: Your Amazon.com Inquiry

Greetings from Amazon.com.

Thank you for contacting us. Due to the status of your account we are reserving your funds in your Amazon selling account until we are sure all items have shipped and no A-to-z Guarantee Claims are received against your account. Your account will be evaluated 90 days after the initial date of block or closure request, which was August 4, 2011. Your funds will be disbursed to the bank account on file after your 90 day review, minus any outstanding chargebacks or A-to-z Guarantee claims.

Per section 2 of the AMAZON SERVICES BUSINESS SOLUTIONS AGREEMENT:

"If we reasonably conclude based on information available to us that your actions and/or performance in connection with the Agreement may result in a significant number of customer disputes, chargebacks or other claims, then we may, in our sole discretion, delay initiating any remittances and withhold any payments to be made or that are otherwise due to you under this Agreement for the shorter of: (a) a period of ninety (90) days following the initial date of suspension; or (b) completion of any investigation(s) regarding any Seller actions and/or performance in connection with the Agreement."

Best regards,

Hello,

Please release my funds to me which is $6,297.08. I have not violated any Amazon policy. This holding of my funds is causing financial hardship. All my customers have their products in hand. There are no outstanding orders. I have filed a complaint with the FTC.

All they cared was once you hit 10% on feedback!? I'm over 25% of orders feedback, but I'm on an old account so I think that also helps..don't know what it will be like once I have a new account

Do you guys just sell as much as you can, get hit with the review, make a new account, sell as much as you can until review, and get your money after 90 days on each?
This is exactly what I do. Sometimes I have 3-4 accounts go under suspension at the same time, each with $500+ on them. In 90 days, I get a fat ass check... LOL.

velocity reviews do not have to become suspensions

if you answer their questions and act like a good seller you can pass velocity reviews

so long as you are still able to sell, just keep being a good seller and you'll be ok

its only a ban that makes you wait the full 90 days, and a velocity review only becomes a ban if you shut down and act like a thief

Not always true but it's a moot point.
