Most if not all banks check ssn for your credit score. If you have bad credit, you won't be able to open one. You'd have to rely solely on the likes of Greendot, Ruch, ect to open accounts.

And you do not want to rely on those type of bank accounts.
SSN will be required for all cards needing a routing & account number.

Its the law. If someone tells you, you can have a bank account without SSN or ID, they are blowing some hot, smokey, and smelly gas out of their rear pipes.
Use credit unions, most have no fees. I have 20+ accounts (savings/checking) and plan on opening more if Amzn keeps suspending accounts at 50+ transactions. Also, if you are under 50 transactions you are fine. They have not required tax id info for those accounts. I hope they loosen it to 200+ transactions like the federal law requires. I wonder if Paypal is doing 200+ or following Amzn's lead with 50+. Anyone know?
So the standard is 50 transaction per year? My legit now suspened account didn't get ask to provide ssn until september 2012 and I start selling since January 2012. I just creates 2 new stealth account and 1 stealth ebay/pp account. Hoping to spread out my sales so I don't have to provide ssn :(

Not necessarily. I don't see why people cant get a few solid account which are built to last, and then have a few backups. If he wants 20 separate accounts which can not be linked, means you literally need 20 of everything.
