Default return address tracked?

Does Amazon track return addresses? I have a friend's address as my registered address, which is unused. I would hate to have all of my returns sent to his address. I'm planning on having about 10 accounts running so having multiple locations to pick up returns would be a huge pain. I will go the PO box route as soon as these accounts about 3 months old. So... back to my question, has anyone ever been suspended due to an old suspended return address?? Thanks

Honestly, probably no one has been suspended for this because no one would be stupid enough to use a suspended return address. I don't mean stupid in a bad way, I mean after being apart of the forums after a while, you would know that this is not a good idea.

It is often said however, that you could use your address and safely add a unit number at the end of it without any issues. Ex: You live at 224 NW Governor St., so instead you say the return address is 224 NW Governor St. Unit #5. This should be enough of a difference to where it wouldn't be linkable for Amazon. Obviously there are large apartment complexes with over 999 units .. and it's not like some guy in unit 414 is going to get every other person in his building/complex suspended by linking to his address. You WILL definitely get your returns this way (I do this all the time, but not for the reason you're asking about).

Also, you can't have all 10 accounts going to the exact same address even if it is NOT suspended.

You also have to be careful when using the unit number workaround. If used on 10 accounts with the same address, the probability of linking increases exponentially, especially if there are other similarities between the accounts.

The odds of two Amazon sellers living in the same building is fairly low, but it DOES happen. The odds of 10 Amazon sellers living in the same building is even lower. If those 10 accounts are all selling electronics, then the odds are lower still.

The goal in stealth is to keep the accounts as DIFFERENT as possible.

That is not accurate.

amazon can detect such changes.

Not true! You might get away with it for awhile. But they will catch on. ALL addresses in the US are on file. Amazon (and most retailers) have this list. You can't just add an Appt number to the end of a single family dwelling.

Well I guess you can...as I did....for awhile.

But one of my accounts got whacked. Within an hour 5 more fell.

Lesson learned.

Just curious for all the veterans, assuming that you have multiple accounts, how would you approach this issue? Do you have multiple family members nearby that you pick up returns from? If I were to have 10 different PO Boxes at the same post office, would that also throw a red flag?

Address variation AND post office boxes work wonders for me

when people need returns ill just email my return address instead of putting it into amazon. or email them a printable label. if they dont have a printer you can also mail them a label.most people print their own label but if they cant 44c for a stamp is still cheaper than losing the account.

Exactly - manual old school methods still work very well

I send a pdf file, amazon can see it if the open the pdf file

Or you can send them the label using the snail mail. This is the best way

I don't even trust that when it comes to return shipping. I am definitely on the paranoid side, but I could totally see a customer typing in a message: hey I got this label saying to ship to '123 abc dr.' is this correct to return to you? Having it typed out in a message is even worse than having it in a .pdf. At least with a pdf it can't be flagged by an automatic detection. Like you wouldn't type out your banned phone number into a message asking the buyer to call you, etc.

How do you provide your return address? Enter it in the Amazon's return address? or send buyer a message with return address?

Thank you

Ive done it, just because I was curious and limited on addresses and had no issues at all. Ive continued to do the same thing and have had great success. However, do it at you own risk; it worked for me...

You mean sending the return BANNED address via Amazon message service to the buyer...?
