5 months... ridiculous... I can't believe Amazon would allow this. Buyer claims that he returned the item back in May. I asked him to provide a tracking number and then he submits a claim... How is this possible? Any way I can look up a tracking number from a return request?

Did buyer ever contact you to return the item? All return request must be submit through Amazon return request.

Yeah if this is a return request that didn't get handled properly (i.e. you failed to communicated back and forth properly to ensure that the item was indeed shipped/received) then the guy might win. Amazon will look at your correspondence history between you and the buyer. If you dropped the ball at any point down the line with this buyer, Amazon probably will side with them.
