Re: router and dsl modem question amazon
Use Phd's advice and go to IPBurger.com to find your public IP. That is the IP the rest of the world would see you as (including Amazon/Ebay). Quote:
if i change the last digits in the router will they still get my actual ip or thet will get the new # i plug into it. Hope this makes sense.

A MAC address is a way to physically assign a unique address to your device. If you alter the last 2 digits of the MAC address of your router & reboot it, your modem will think (because it has a diff MAC), that this is a new device.
Your ISP then recognizes this and will release and assign a new public IP to you (this is of course assuming you have a dynamic IP from your IP). Quote:
Do I have to get a new network card all the time when I change the routers ip.?? Thanks
| If the above steps work, there is no reason to get a new network card. If it doesn't, this likely means you have a sticky or Static IP. If you have sticky/ Static IP, then you need to explore other options (dongle, tethering, dial-up).
