Buyer wants a refund a year later

A buyer is claiming that they have not received their item that was ordered a year ago.

I know the buyer has 90 days to file a claim, but I have heard that buyers have called Amazon and Amazon has filed claims for them well after the 90 days.

The weird thing is that the feedback says 'has not left you feedback for this order yet.'

Normally after 90 days it will say "buyer did not leave feedback" and they are unable to submit feedback past that point

Should I just refund the order?

Why would you refund, just say sorry politely.

They cannot claim and if they did you would win. Saying one year later I have not received the goods., the mind boggles.

It would be interesting to see what they said as for why they did not think to mention the item not arrive say 11 months ago... Like most other people would

My guess is the person fell upon hard times and is desperate. Really good chance that they get banned if they attempt this across many sellers.

Agreed. Either that or they broke their item recently and want the money to buy a new one without it costing them anything

So many possibilities on this buyer - don't play his/her loser game

It is heartwarming to read seasoned sellers trying to fluff down the buyer's intentions.

Maybe my cynicism is taking the better of me but you do realize there are websites out there fully devoted to scamming amazon? Some years ago they used to advise people to avoid small sellers and to aim at amazon itself but I hear those innocent times are now over.

To the OP: refund and you will end up in a suckers list.

Not only are there websites but guides to scamming EBay and Amazon sellers....these guides re actually good to read to stay ahead of these scumbags.

The A-Z cant effect your because its past the time even if they did file. I think Amazon TOS policy states buyer has 14 days to report a missing package.

Re: Buyer wants a refund a year later

The latest time frame to file a claim that I seen is 180 by a few credit card company. If amazon let the buyer file a claim a year later then you're just a lab rat and your reaction may depend on the future claims in a few years from now. Politely refuse the claim, ask the buyer to deal with his bank instead.

it's not always the case. amazon.fr refunded to buyer after nearly 2 years.
i made a complain to amazon, they just sent me a email which said this is policy.
amazon sometimes sucks.

Re: Buyer wants a refund a year later

I've had a buyer claim they never received a item 6 months later and a Amazon rep opened a A-Z for them and they won, Since i only had delivery confirmation and not signature, refunded from my funds. Amazon can and will open A-Z outside of there own policy. It just depends if the buyer contacts a Amazon rep or not.
