Ebay catch you posting same picture tags?

Hi everyone. I save my pictures using one photobucket account and want to know if I use to pictures on both ebay accounts (1 stealth, 1 real) if ebay will find out just by using them? Is it risky? Any info would be of help. Thank You

rsot 12-27-2012 07:01 AM

Yes they CAN link if info of the pictures is the name. Strip the GIF tag (EXIF) or redo the photo to make it different - few posts around about that.

JJGold 12-27-2012 07:20 AM

Even if the pics are different and the EXIF info is stripped they can still link you because the all pics ww. w. photobucket.com/]your photobucket username/blahblahblah/blah/blahwill begin

That's why the smart stealthers use a different photobucket acct for each windows user acct.:ranger:

OP's question was relative to photobucket.

I was implying Photobucket is terrible in general, especially for stealth purposes

- Here is what I do, I strip the data off the images.
- Upload to TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting (If I need to use for several accounts I upload several times)
- Save the URL's to a .txt file

So if I need to use the pics I just go to my txt files.

Yea, I will just use different photobucket accounts. is that 100% sure thing to work and keep things separate?

Why is it terrible in general? I have been using different Photobucket accounts for several years and never had a problem.

Sandy D 12-30-2012 02:08 AM

I do not remember ever being linked by pictures.

I remove files on every picture and of course used different backgrounds, colors, etc.

rsot 12-30-2012 10:17 AM

I also like to stamp my pictures with username to switch it up

Laritha 12-30-2012 11:27 AM

The lazy way is usually the worst way. Multiple Photobuckets are not only safe, but free!

sommer33 01-01-2013 02:41 PM

for every stealth accounts, i upload their pics to their gmail/picasa albums and use the link there. this way the link address will always be the stealth accounts's name respectively. any thought why use multiple photobucket accounts is better than this here?

vogeltron 02-25-2013 04:44 AM

I would suggest using different photo buckets for sure. I would also suggest using different background pictures, switching up the listing style, background etc. Don't sell the exact same items if possible. The more you can differentiate the better. But definitely using the same photo bucket account is just plain stupid. When it only takes a few seconds to make another one or use another photo service.

I just use different cameras and phones to take the pictures for different accounts then upload them to ebay. Maybe I'm lazy :pop2:

When you take a picture with your smartphone/camera and put it on the web, do you realize that you are providing a lot of personal information that anyone can see? Most likely the following info (metadata) is in your JPG picture:

The exact location where the picture was taken

Almost all new phone and cameras have a GPS sensor in them. If you have enabled geo-tagging in your photos, the precise location that the picture was taken at is embedded in your image. This includes latitude, longitude, and altitude.

The exact date and time the picture was taken

The camera sets a date/time stamps in the picture when the picture was taken and when it was digitized.

The type of camera/phone which took the picture

A smart phone stores the make and the model. There even may be a serial number in there to uniquely identify your camera.

This type of information can reveal where your home is or where you were at on a particular day. Big privacy concern!

I still just attach my pictures to the auction listing in a majority of cases - old school I guess

The pics on eBay and very small though. I have used services like photobucket and jpegbay for years. Anyone who has sold on eBay for years understands the how important it is to have big clear pictures and with that a good description.
