Videotron??? Wholly crap that's a name I have not heard in years. We had them for cable two decades ago. Did not know they still existed.

If modem is 2004 I am positive they have new hardware. And you should check if upgrade is free

I took a fast look on the site and see they have 3gb data stick plan for $25. Thats a sweet deal if it gives a Fresh IP.

I bought 2 Rogers sticks and 1 Telus. The Telus one drop internet in every 5 minutes, and I have to exchange it to Rogers. Now I have 3 with Rogers on 2-year contracts, all with $35 flex plan (auto upgrade to next plan according to monthly usage).
For IP, two of them show exactly same IP (location: Toronto), no matter where I go. while another has a different one (location: Brampton). Before I found out the problem, I already used the same IP on 2 different accounts, but I don't care too much since there must so many people use the same IP in Toronto. But it posts a risk if you want to be absolutely sure your accounts are not linked.

more research ...
windmobile.com offers an $80 stick and 3 levels of data , with $45 being unlimited data plan (max)

seems reasonable upon research it seems most stick connections suffer from disconnect issues. But if you are mobile, and need a connection to be where you are , a simple reboot seems to solve most probems, and there is a 30 day money back policy with most of the stick plans , likely because they know there are issues with them.

The wind service offers a Huawei E181 stick, which is also used by many european ISP , so if you will travel there , you can likely use it there as well if you sign up for their plans, given your device is unlocked

Important issue is IPs. If they are static its pretty expensive for a single IP

Or even some are reported to change, but only a few ips cycled. So don't sign anything until you confirm its usable

yes, I do realise that you may get only one, or maybe a pool of 3 or 10 ips.

but , and maybe this is my limited thinking...

but I do not sell any vero or high risk items. I lived on 1 IP address on ebay for 7 years. So if I can get another 7 or so with this , it may be worth it.

I realise that perhaps you are saying that ebay is far riskier now than in 2003. And I should have a larger bank of IPs , and accounts to rotate , in the event it goes down.

I will have a dial up as well , but need to be HOME to use that , which I am not often at home

what can I say , its a pain.

Sure. They dont ban or lock up everyone or there would be no eBay

BUT: If this is your plan you absolutely must be prepared to have everything that will pop up. And that includes bogus ID. Because when you get limited you need to be prepared to get by that. If you plan to just stay under the radar and they wont bother you, wrong. They will molest every account, no matter how good sooner or later

But, still use that dial up and have a couple backups laying in wait. If you never use them great. If you need one, its there

So if you plan to take a run at a single account, may I ask why in the world are you looking at mobile? Why not cable or DSL?

I hear what you are saying , and it is sound advice. I know, only too well , I WILL be molested, no matter what I do, or not do.

I plan on the dial up regardless, for the back up accounts lying in wait when I get around to that, as you correctly advise.

I am looking at mobile, as I am on the go , and I am not physically in the same spot much of the time. For cable /dsl you need to be where that plug is to use it.

Ok. So mobile it is. Wind I think just piggie backs on other services. Not sure what one. Go with the bigger companies. They will have the best coverage. Bell has a pretty poor reputation. Not sure if you have Rogers in your city
