The scammer who I thought was just trying to be my friend who was helping me trade with these “nodes” aka signals her “auntie” was providing her with, she actually started getting so frustrated that I wasn’t adding more money, so much so that she actually sent $30k to my SEHK account, she then told me to do a few trades and we got to $110k, then she asked me to withdraw it and pay her back because she needed the money because it was “her mothers birthday” and she didn’t have any money left and was having trouble borrowing. So I go to withdraw the $110k and I’m hit with a message of customer service telling me I need to pay them $16k in taxes before they can withdraw the money, I was still convinced, but after not being successful in finding the money needed, it hit me, and I did some more googling and finally found this thread. This person had been reeling me in for well over a month, at first it was normal conversation but she kept pressing me to start investing, and when I did finally put £100 in, she kept pressing me to add more and more money, although I didn’t, I should have seen the signs straight away. However I got away very lucky. When I first searched up this site about a month ago there was no info on it, nothing, so I wasn’t sceptical not optimistic, but today I have found this thread and it has opened my eyes to this scam artist. Just know that you are not alone. I was about to be scammed out of a lot of money and many other already have. I hope you can recover from this, stay positive and push onwards. These battles are what make us. | Lost for words. Social engineering comes to mind.
Assad you have definitely been scammed. Pursue other avenues to make your money back.

Find a USA lawyer who advertises as a China litigation expert, and file a lawsuit against them in China where there bank is located. China still has laws, freeze the bank and take back your money legally. Most important info is find out what country they keep their funds that’s where your lawsuit must be |

| WinstonFisk | 07-14-2021 10:37 PM | Re: Scammed 145k :( Some have unfairly remarked I had sinister motives.
My advice will differ dependent upon the geographical region, law differs in Scotland, N Ireland, England etc.
If you are in England you can only be legally declared bankrupt by a court decree, upon submission of a bakruptcy petition. A person CAN submit a petition for themselves to the court. Whether the petition is brought by yourself, or by a creditor (someone whom you owe money to) there is a critical caveat: two prequisite conditions must be met.
1) The debt must be equal to, or in excess of £5000
2) said debt must also be of a fixed nature. Basically, it must be any debt not related to legally accrued debts such as damages.
Upon successful accrediting of the bankruptcy petition, an insolvency practitioner (a trustee in sequestration) is appointed. They take control of all your assets (with limited exceptions, including work tools and items necessary for your employment). You maybe tempted to dispose of an asset (say, a house) for a nominal fee or for nothing to a friend or family member. DO NOT DO THIS.
Not only is this classed as a gratuitious alienation (wilful deprivation of capital) you will be still be held liable for the full market value of the asset. Say you have a home worth £120k. You sell it for £12k. The remaining £108k would still be owed, and you also face criminal penalties.
In practice, the bankruptcy will last for 12 months (the clock starts on the day the decree was issued). However, where the court is satisfied that all assets have been disposed of for as much as they can fetch, there are no further assets hidden away, the court has the discretion to quash the bankruptcy order earlier.
Once the official reciever is satisfied that the above has been achieved, the debtor will no longer be subject to the limitations mandated by the court. |
| WinstonFisk | 07-14-2021 10:41 PM | Re: Scammed 145k :( It is vitally important that you obey any and all instructions issued by the official reciever. Remember that 12 month timeframe I mentioned? If it can be proven there was malfeasance at the behest of the debtor (wilful concealment of assets, deprivation of capital), the bankruptcy order can be extended to up to 15 years! This is by no means automatic, and will be entirely contingent upon the circumstances of the case, but antagonizing the court is most definitely NOT advisable. |

And again, you baselessly accuse me trying to commit fraud. Without evidence i may add. That, is a legal doctrine we call in Scotland "defamation". |

The scam is a shocker, and even annoys me becasue of how its impacted your life.
Please just reply if you are still around, at least give us peace of mind that your head space is a little more positive.
And even if you dont have the will power to reply, then just start of with these;
1) Sit in the sun for a while (heatwave in the UK right now)
2) Keep hustling (ive seenm your threads and you seem like a hard hustler)
3) Speak to your family about the matter as they may be uunderstanding
4) And just keep smiling, even if this scam is making you think of the worst.
Remember, things can only get better from this moment for you :) |

I've just been reading up on some stats ... it's like 9 billion a year these scammers are making via crypto scams. Police can't do anything, banks can't do anything as their victims are FOMO (fear of missing out) themselves in to the scams by voluntarily transferring money in to binance and then sending it to these phake exchanges or buying meme doggie tokens where they get rug pulled.
The only way to combat these scams is educating the public.
If you're going to invest, buy an amount you can afford to lose. Buy from a reputable exchange. Move it to a ledger or trezor.
I would say just stick to Bitcoin or ETH. Don't even waste time with anything else. |

Also recovery is possible only if you are dealing with a legitimate, regulated company, and that also depends on the reason of the loss. There are several firms that deal with claims, in most extreme cases you can take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service or FSCS, but even they can't assist with cases involving unregulated companies.
Best option is to stick with investment opportunities with local, regulated firms where you can see the actual information, and verify them with the national financial regulator. |
