I also do not think you should go there before you make orders of 50k and above. If you make such big orders, you can go and meet the manufacturers in person and get better prices. Relatives always give better prices to relatives.
1688 is great for comparing prices and negotiation on alibaba.

I would personally find a buying agent, you can call a hktdc office and they can help you find one. i went to the los angeles office and got one before. They are the ones that can speak the language and can help with suppliers.

It is super loud. Never quiet. People everywhere. Rude people. Gross people. People literally **** and piss in the streets. Restrooms are an open ditch behind a wall in much of the country. Basically too many people.

My big turnoff now is that we cant eat the street foods or have fish head soup because of the water quality.

No offense to our Chinese members or my Chinese friends. It is just very different from the USA and a culture shock to most of us.

Not anyone of USA love china, and not anyone of USA don`t like china . Yes, we have not good air here, but we love our homeland.

No, its definitely not a must to travel there.
Here's a good place to find reliable suppliers - Made-in-China.com

We have used this personally and you can get in touch with the suppliers directly via chat/email.

Contact suppliers on alibaba or aliexpress , Ask them to ship you some samples to test , No need to travel to China which costs money .

IF you want to compare quality ..else , Try 3-5 different suppliers and make a comparision

Many Ali sellers are just like us,'weekend warriors',they go to the factory and pick up some stuff or they just take photos and then buy from the factory when they get an order from us.
Dont be fooled by their fancy logos and description.
