Carbooting in the UK Your Finds

I thought i would start a thread on Carbooting in the UK as i earn Approx 100

to 200 pounds a week from them. So there must be people on here doing the same.

I went to my local carboot today and spent 45 and i will make over 150.

I hope someone else is takig advantage of this easy money maker

Great way to source goods.

Amazing what can turn up & what it can lead to from making contact with people who sell at them.

Nice one :thumb:

One of my best ever suppliers actually came from a car boot sale. We still trade after all these years

I've never got into the car boot thing, think it may be something to do with a lot taking place in the mornings (or the good bits being bought up straight away) ....& i do like my lie ins on the weekends.

I may give it a try sometime though :)

I live right in the middle of London and have never been able to find any "real" carboot sales, so never bothered. I did see one at the end of Bethnal Green Rd between Shoreditch and the city but that is it, and the selection wasn't great.

@Elijah

Years back car-booting was better in that area.

Its popularity made its effectiveness lower. :pout:

For those not in the UK, carboot is equal to community GarageSale, or Yardsale I believe, where many people come together to sell their goods. For a second I read carboot and thought of the following:

I was thinking the same thing. "carboot sale" I thought the city was selling cars that still had the boot on. The owners weren't paying the boot fine so the city would auction it out.

dam brits and their hard language. I still love your accents though.

i prefer general auctions in the UK!!! There are loads of them about and they sell a lot of stuff from house clearances! You can literally make 100%+ on EVERYTHING bought at these, I worked at one one summer and made more money buying a few things a week there and selling them on ebay than actually working there!

I totally agree as i also do my local General Auction house but if you put

together the Carboots (Yard Sales for the Yanks) and General auctions you

can make some serious money and there is not much work involved so i

believe it is well worth getting out of bed for. As they say the early bird

catches.....

Thanks for the input guys.

Sorry for the double post my computer was playing up

bigbill 06-03-2012 06:11 AM

Definitely, I don't have enough time now to get down to these...but if I didn't know where to start I would be straight down these auctions. You can buy full cardboard boxes full of bric a brac/general household items for £1-2 and can EASILY turn them into £20-50 on ebay...just takes a lot of time!

GreenBean 06-03-2012 06:23 AM

:thumb: All good ways to make money.

Been meaning to go to the local one in my area(Edinburgh) for a while to see what they sell and if i could sell my item there and make it worth my while. Still at the start and looking for more items to sell.

When it comes to buying i wouldnt have a clue what to buy though. How do you find out about local auctions in the UK, as I only know about 1 and it is on the west coast of scotland?

Killuminati 06-07-2012 12:39 PM

I have been going carboot sales for some time now and i find that waking up so early in the morning to get there is well worth it you can find great bargains

Google is your best friend when it comes to finding auction houses.

Also try your local paper and surrounding local papers as there is a local

paper just 10 miles away from my house that is full of auctions that are right

on my door step.

Spread your search and you will find alot

Agree 1000%

Some shopping centres have community notice boards. Check them out.

You just need to LOOK. Sometimes word of mouth offers chances.

You live in a rural area right? It should be easier to find them then, than in it is for me Central London...
