Default Buy it now vs Auctions?

It seems to me that auctions work better at selling then buy it now listings do.

With a BIN listing the buyer has to pay what your asking for it, it could be days before anybody buys it.

An auction the buyer thinks they can get a good deal if the bidding starts low enough. Eventually a bunch of people end up bidding on it and you might get more then you were asking for listing it this way then you did with a BIN.

This has been my experience anyways, I guess it would really depend on what you were selling and whether or not it's an in demand type item.

It feels like buyers would rather try and get a bargain with an auction for something they feel they can get cheaper then a buy it now.

That is only true if you do not know what to price your item at. I'm not looking to give deals to everyone. I have a product they want, I do not want to give it away

Everyone has their own methods, Myself I prefer BIN. I don't have time to deal with Non Payers, Competition bidding only to have them not pay, Possibly not getting what I want. The flipside, You can make a lot more than what the item is worth, gives people the feeling like they could possibly win an item at a lower price only to have them overbid and you make a killing.

As Slim said, If you know what your item is worth, and you can set the price of your item to a reasonable price where you can make a good profit then BIN isn't as bad as some might say.

You gotta do your Homework, then do it again, then again till you are 100% comfortable with either BIN or Auction.

Buy it now, but it also really depends on what you sell. If you have a hot item and know it will sell just list it at a $1.00 auction for a short duration, just have to develop methods over time.

For me I used to do only auction but eBay made a lot of negative changes so now the store route with good till cancelled works for me. Tired of giving my items away, figure it works out the same to price something high and sell 1 in a month, otherwise your trying to move inventory by giving it away which would then add to more work, stress, and only to reach the same price your one fixed priced listing took in.
