@slapped.. i have accounts with dbl distributing, and dandh. The problem with those companies they will not allow you to purchase a lot of the major brands from them unless you become an authorized dealer of that particular brand that you are trying to purchase. That usually involves them making a trip to your store (i dont have a store home based) and making sure your set up properly. So is ingram micro or New age electronics operating in the same manner and would there be a greater profit margin vs those other distributors mentioned?

Might also want to note that the prices from dbl and dandh are not very much lower than retail usually only 2-8% lower as someone else stated.

Being an Authorized Distributor in this Day and Age NO Longer Means a Brick-N-Mortor store,,EVERY Major Manufacturer has some sort Internet Based List of Authorized Retailers,,,Each Company is Different,,,

As for Pricing,,,I Posted above about the 2-8%,,,Every Distributor has its own Strengths with certain Manufactures,,for Example you CANNOT Get Ipods fron dandh,,but you can from Ingram,,,you will get Better pricing on Sharp and Samsung Products from New Age that Anyone else,,,and so on

What I dont understand is if these people are so keen to sell their wares, then why is it a bleeding trade secret trying to find out who they are?!?! I mean I got chatting to this total KNOB-JOCKEY on here called Hdavey10 who offered to tell me about some sellers in exchange for me helping him with his Paypal ID problem, so I helped him out, only for the little cretin to turn round and start demanding that I PAY HIM for his telling me some details of some grubby supplier of counterfeit branded mobile phone covers, for which I might add he was promptly VERO'd off Ebay for selling..!

See what I mean though? I dont want anyone elses business, I mean these companies in China want to sell worldwide, So I dont see what difference it makes if some Ebay selling in the USA tells me some details about a supplier in China as chances are its very unlikely that I would be doing them out of any custom by buying from the same supplier! FFS! I dont know why people are so precious about it.

I just need to get started in selling wholesale goods as I've been selling secondhand collectables / antiques since Ebay began, its only now that I'm wanting to get into selling new stock, but I really dont know where to start. I know how to go about listing and managing listings etc but I dont know the first thing about buying items wholesale. Do I need to buy over £1000 worth of stuff to make it worthwhile? Can I just buy straight from the DHgate / Alibaba site? Whenever I've tried to do a search online for buying / selling wholesale I just get bogged down in all the bollocks websites that are just out to make a mug out of people by claiming to be something that they're not. Anyway I was hoping I might get some advice from the people on this forum.

It is NOT very difficult,,,as I have stated right here on THIS VERY thread Several times,,,,Figure out what it is that you want to sell, and then,,,,,CALL the company that makes the Product and ASK THEM how and where to buy it wholesale,,Ask them if you can buy directly from them or not, They WILL tell you, Believe me they ARE interested in selling their products,,,

at the end of that process you will have a list of EVERYONE who is authorized to Wholesale that product, then you can compare the Distributors Minimums and Prices

You will get the LOWEST price possible,,,There in NO such thing as "Secret Sources",,,,that is PURE Bulls^!t,,,,YES it is Possible to get some products BELOW, what the manufacture is selling them for,,,but those deals are ALWAYS Temporary

Some distributors some times have a LOT of a certain product in inventory that in not selling as fast as they thought,,,so in order to raise CASH in order to purchase a faster selling product they will sell something else at a loss.

NO ONE can keep track of EVERY distributor,,,You just do the best you can

That's why I'm so salty my supplier has gone MIA. He was money all around and made me some solid $$$$$$. I was selling product double what I paid for it and more.

I am seriously thinking of taking a trip to China this summer. Looking for a new supplier is driving me nuts to say the least.

To be honest, Sometimes i wished i lived in China. They do get away with everything! lol.

Ok back to the topic:

I made a considerable amount of profit buying electronics from liquidation dot com. The trick is, to do heavy amount of research per each lot you are interested in. Take each item in the list and compare prices on eBay. Have it where the lowest amount you could get on each item. Do not price high. Sometimes, you will be in the money and be able to bid X amount on the lot.

Buyer Beware, Many of the item you will be buying from liq will be broken. However, thousands of people buy broken electronics on eBay. So if your buying broken ipods, research on eBay how much they go for. That also helps when seeing if you can still be in the money when buying the lots.

In my Power Seller Top-Rated Prime Days: I was buying xbox 360 lots from liquidation. Low and behold, Some came in broken. I did my research on how to fix them, I made my profit selling them as working in used condition. Then i started buying broken lots, repair the system and made big money. Offering warranty etc.

This is no longer a good niche, As the xbox has been upgraded to a new model. Not to many of them break and i have not got my hands on one to play with. The Ps3 system has a new model as well. However the phat systems still go for a pretty good amount.

Another Source i used, when selling on Amazon was Dhgate. However, that requires alot of research. Some suppliers on Dhgate are not as good as others. They do have Thousands of products. The problem is finding what to buy. I was buying items for $1 a piece and selling for $15 each on Amazon. You just have to do your research. This same item i was buying is now over crowded with other sellers and is now priced at less than $1 with $3.99 shipping. Profit is still there its just not worth it to me anymore.

I have learned when it comes to selling on eBay and Amazon, no matter how much money you are making selling a product, The demand for it will die out, Sellers will start selling it, people fade out on needing the product etc. So when you do have that hot product that is making you a killing, CONTINUE to look for another niche! Because it will not last forever! It never has.

I know (or at least think I know) what you were buying for $1 and selling for $15 on ebay. I did the same thing until, just like you said, the market died out and it wasn't worth it anymore.

You have to attach yourself to fads. That's what I've done.

Slapzilla - I do agree with what your saying you do have to attach yourself to fads in a way to make sure your always selling items that people want, however do you not think that if you dont continually specialise or sell certain items your always going to be playing with fire to make sure you get a nice return at the end of the month. If you always sell new things its always a gamble will they sell.. but if you sell them week in week out you will know they go.

I do actually sell to whats going well on the market and whats fashionable etc. gives me a better return to be honest.

In my opinion you not only have to know the "current fads" but also the "current needs and wants" of people.

Only looking at the current fads will give you a headache is you stock an item that all of a sudden is no longer the in thing.

Being diversified is the only way in my opinion.

i must say on DHgate its hard to find NON F@ke Items... all of them that I look are vero or are replicas. If anyone disagree please point out some non vero items on DHgate

There is a Very Simple Method to get to all the REAL Items on Dhgate and sites like it,,,Simply search for ITEMS,,,NOT BRANDS,,,For Example Look for Black Handbag,,NOT Black Louis Vuitton,,,look for Mens Watch,,NOT,,,Cartier Mens Watch,,,,You will Not get into trouble that way,,,

I have Known DHgate now for almost 10 Years,,(It is a LOT Cleaner Now),,and I have NEVER ONCE saw or even HEARD of a Legit American Name brand Being sold on that site,,

Hmm yyeah i have done this once and i was trying to find some accessory (make up) and there was no logo cuz supplier did a good job in photoshop. I did not know products listing did not say that item has a logo etc. so I ordered i thought its clearn.. when after 1 weak item arrived, I opened a box and I saw all products exactly the same on pictures but had a logo on it.. and I did not typed in search browser any brand name just brush applicator - thats it.

anyway i wil take your advice and will look some products that are not f@ke

The reason sellers in China do so, to avoid their listing being removed. As of now, Chinese government no longer wants to be known for the land of the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items.

It is same with Aliexpress and taobao.com


I also sell on aliexpress and taobao, and have to do exactly same thing, even when uploading picture into a lisiting, the title of the image cannot have a brand name .It's getting stricter and stricter.

You need to do a search on the internet and compare supplier with all criterias like quantity, prices and conditions. Just start by looking for cheap exports to the country where you are residing.

DHGate...I can't believe those clowns are still in business...
I use to buy bose earbuds and microsoft products from them.
Never had a problem selling them, but in those days you could sell pig wings and still make a dollar..
Now I sell only legit, and I sleep better at night...

I've noticed this too. Even though sometimes I need to know if it's a brand name on it before I buy. Bought some tools that I thought were "brand free", but when I got them they had some "generic" name on them; nothing VERO, but some Chinese name. Waste of money
