Activity: 0% Longevity: 40% | | Category limit: Mobile phones. Anyone know how many we can sell?
For a new account I mean - taking into account of course stealth best practice of taking it slow, selling low value low risk (non mobile phones basically) first.
Its either 1 mobile/cell phone per month or 5. Im fearing its 1. I understand category limit gets removed after 90 days, but what a pain. Although possibly a blessing re longevity of the stealth account/s.
I'm in the UK if relevant (probably is country dependant).
On the website it just says there are category limits for mobile phones but it doesn't give a precise number.

I would stick to 1 a month since they are so risky. Make sure the listings are very descriptive and lots of pics.
Be prepared to have to send invoices immediately for that type of product

If your first item listed/sold is an iPhone you're not in good shape....

If youre aware of how risky it is to be selling a cellphone as your first item why not do the smart thing and get established as a seller first then? sell a few low value low risk items and get feedback for those and show speedy delivery and all. THEN list a cellphone.
Ill never understand people who try to run a stealth account but refuse to use proper stealth techniques when going about it...

With such high value, high risk items, especially when sold regularly, ebay want to ascertain this is your phone (i.e. not stolen), and in your possession. It goes without saying, invoices may or may not be accepted, regardless of how genuine it may be.
Spreading sales over multiple accounts would be ideal.

I intend to have a crack at building up those 4 to a position where the accounts can offer phones on each. Appreciate I have a long road ahead! I'll no doubt increase this number of selling accounts over time.
And re invoices I am trying to do my homework as best as poss in preparation for this thanks - i.e. what will be accepted and what will not be. Understandably its not too openly discussed on the forums. The sellers I have purchased accounts from so far have been helpful though.

I really don't think this plan is going to work out well for the OP.
1 phone a month on a new account, maybe, but I'm guessing this will trigger a series of unfortunate events.

You also said you don't want to wait for 90 days and 25 feedback.
Which strongly implies you're too impatient to build up your feedback and sales.
Which is why multiple senior members have advised you to change course.

But hey ho I accept the position I am in now. I just asked what the category limit is for phones, which I still do not know.
Never mentioned at all about the 25 feedback thing!

Again I am fully aware selling a boat load too soon will effectively end the account there and then. I am absolutely therefore determined to take things slow, build up sales on the account with lower value lower risk items.
I've said the above countless time! lol it sounds like you senior members have seen people jump into this way too many times and get burned. Can we not accept the words of a guy that is saying he is committed to going into it slowly, following stealth principles to a tee.
The question is how slow is slow?! If one phone per month on the account is considered too fast then I will have re re-evaluate my expectations.

There is no real 100% answer to how slow is slow...some people sell multiple without issues and are lucky while others get axed right away - the phone market is risky like that and subject to experimentation on your part.

I guess this goes back to the value of having multiple accounts then. The ones that survive you can push on with.

You're right, you didn't mention 25 feedback.
Probably because you aren't familiar with how category limits work. It's not 90 days. It's 90 days AND 25 selling feedback.

Not all of EB's rules are written. Offsite link: http://www.ecommercebytes.com/
had an article a few days ago about 'unwritten EB rules', you'll have to look it up, but it's been on there within the past few weeks.

The link you referenced.
It works that way in eBay US for many brand names.
You can ignore our advice, no problem. Don't whine when you're back in square 1 trying to start over with no limits, no sales history, etc.

Seems you are just reading my name and the words mobile phone, iPhone etc in the thread and ignoring anything else I have said.
Thanks for the link though.
