Default Automatic Payment Methods

Hey all, long time lurker here. Been doing stealth since 2005 before I even knew what I was doing was a thing. I am usually pretty good with my accounts. The ones I have now are three or so years old so I will admit I am a little rusty. I have been reading all I can find but not too much from 2018 regarding Automatic Payment methods for listing on ebay.

Long story short, I slipped on an account fee payment. They charged my PP but nothing was there so PP was removed as my automatic payment method. As we know, one is required to list.

I have always used VanillaVisa prepaid cards (grey ones) for this but in trying to add one when listing an item it is being rejected (zip code added and matching). Tells me to check the number and I have reentered it several times with no luck. I have attempted to add it to EB and to PP. However only at the time of listing.

Any new info out there on this? Should the card have a decent balance on it? (I've tried two; one zero balance and one with $.70...probably too low, though I used to always use empty cards). What are some other options when one does not have any personal cards that have not been attached to an account?

Thank you all in advance and if I missed a recent thread on the topic I would appreciate a link so I may check it out!

I just linked an account I personally created to a Vanilla Gift Card. Is all the information matching the info on the address 1000% and is it a Visa/MC/etc etc?

Zip code is added and matching. What else needs to be added to the card? It’s a visa.

How do you add anything anymore? The website (vanillagift.com) does not accept any zip code given. I've called and added the zip but I found it does not take. I spoke with customer service and they tell me a zip can no longer be added to the cards. How are you getting them to work?

You can add the zip code on Vanilla's website and it should work for eBay. I just added one I got at 7-Eleven.

What website did you use? How much was on the card? I’ve tried four different cards both online and on the phone with no success. Called several times, spoke to four different people and still can’t get a zip code added.

GetCardBalance.com works too, depending on the card.

The website should be on the back of the package.

That’s for Mastercard, not visa. Do these cards allow you to add a zip code and work for adding an automatic payment method?

Here is a screenshot of what I am getting when I attempt to enter a zip code. Tried Visa and MasterCard, new and used of multiple denominations.

Show us what eBay says when you attempt to change payment method.

It says incorrect information and wants me to fix what was entered.

I believe I figured it out. I’ve come to the conclusion, after much trial and error, that it’s rejecting CT zip codes. On a whim I tried my old NY zip code and had no problem, so I tried a ton of other random CT ones and all rejected. I have no idea if it is a state thing or something to do with the zip starting with ‘0’ or what but I went through a number of cards with many more CT zip codes and all failed. I can see why even I thought I was doing something wrong.

That's pretty interesting testing - CT codes...might be a system glitch that hasn't been fixed?

I really hope so, these are my favorite method since I can use PP funds to get them. I added a CT zip to one late last year for my mother's account. Couldn't find anything about the state playing a role in this...I also didn't try any other New England zip codes that start with (0).

You can add the zip code calling Vanilla's 1-800 number and using your touch-tone to specify the zip code you want. This usually works for me, even with zip codes beginning with a "0".

Is adding zip code necessary? I have been using Vanilla gift cards without doing zip codes..

How actually did you do that? I know, this is an old thread, but I want an answer.
