What transition are we talking about here? I personally think search results are very good on eBay (except for the last 2 weeks), I am not saying this because I used to get sales at all, rather because I searched for items a million times on eBay before.
The thing I would do to eBay is eliminate Chinese sellers because they have clogged the platform with endless listings offering products that will be delivered 2 or 3 weeks later (which is only one facet of their horrible selling behavior). These guys have driven a ton of businesses out of the market and eBay is paying the price now for that loss. They simply should clear the air and send a message that they are not a market for cheap 1$ stuff (this is how a lot of people view eBay nowadays).
They should also implement a policy against dead listings, go to eBay and search for a mobile phone case, you would instantly get more than a million listings for such items. As you probably know, only the products in the first 2 or 3 pages do sell and all the others are literally dead. A policy which states that a listing has 30 days to bring its first sale, if that does not happen it will be automatically cancelled.
I also think the policy of one account per person is a must!
They should also reward sellers who bring diversity to the market. I see a lot of sellers who have 50 listings for the same damn thing!
Honest to god, I believe eBay has more potential than Amazon, only if they clean house and enforce some new policies. I as a seller hate it when Amazon has control over my inventory (They came up with Seller Fulfilled Prime recently though). The net income of eBay is ~0.5 Billion and is ~3 Billion for Amazon!!
I have no idea what's wrong with the board of directors or the CEO of eBay, there is gold in the streets and they're letting others collecting it!
