Activity: 0% Longevity: 37% | | PayPal not showing senders' e-mail anymore?
When a buyer requests a refund, I used to login into my PayPal, look up their e-mail address and send a refund.
PayPal is not showing any of my customers' e-mails anymore!!
I am left with two options now to issue refunds:
1. Cancel the transaction and choosing "buyer requested cancellation".
2. Ask the buyer to initiate a return so that I can issue a refund.
Can you see your customers' PayPal addresses nowadays?

I get the email address from the "View Record" option in EBay.
However this may be different to the Paypal email address.

Does Germany PP not have a "issue refund" choice? That's what I do, here in the US.

Wow you've really been over complicating your refunds.
On eBay click "view sales record" for the order, then scroll down to where it says "view Paypal transaction." That takes you to Paypal where you can refund the payment directly.
Personally though I prefer to cancel the order and have a refund sent that way, because I'm pretty sure it blocks the buyer from leaving feedback.
Paypal and eBay both have been working on getting rid of emails for several months now, as a way to cut back on direct sales.

Why would PP try to cut back, when we need the email address to even send payment or invoice?
Doesnt sound like a good plan lol

Huh? You mean you can't find a transaction based on the email of the buyer?
You sure about this?
If it doesn't work, how about using that email to search in your inbox for the transaction number on paypal then use that to search within paypal for that specific transaction to make the refund?
Makes sense?

Doesnt sound like a good plan lol | Contractual obligations between eB and PP, I guess. I don't know the details but I know I've witnessed emails disappearing from Paypal in the past few months.
Just access the PP transaction from eBay, OP. 10x easier than what you've been doing.

Here's the new look I'm talking about. This is where it takes you when you click on the transaction from your summary page :
Only shows buyer name, eBay username, and shipping address.

Exactly. They also have a line at the end of the page saying:
"Do you want to contact the buyer? Go to eBay and there you could send the buyer a message"!
Will issuing a refund via PayPal count as a deficit? I have done that a year ago and it was a real mess.

If the order is shipped, the buyer could still leave feedback even if the transaction gets cancelled. The problem with this method is that it raises your cancellation rate. I once heard that eBay is cracking down on sellers who cancel transactions and choose "buyer initiated" even though the buyer hasn't asked for the transaction to be cancelled.

They’re doing it everywhere, you have to jump through hoops to get the PP email on ETY as well.
That said you can still find it you just have to jump through some hoops |

It's how I handle almost all of our orders that are refunded without a return request being opened. The reason you choose on the cancellation page is "The buyer requested the order be cancelled" or whatever it says, and those don't count against you.
If you can show me where they are saying buyer-faulted cancellations are a red flag to an eBay account, I'm all ears (eyes). It's never caused us any problems or even account defects. Quote:
