Merchant accounts are going away, too.

Guys we got a whole 4 years, till 2023 july before they remove paypal completly from sellers accounts.
Right now they testing managed payments, it might not get approved anyways. Alot of sellers are complaining about it to ebay.

This is yet another example of companies not listening to their customers. If eBay thinks their revenue is on thew decline now, just wait until they make integrated payments mandatory across their platform. I wouldn't be shocked to see as much as a 50% loss in revenues once they fully implement it. it might just be the catalyst sellers need to migrate elsewhere.

Complaints from thousands of sellers may not be enough to change things. Ebay's stock price is currently around $28 per share. Will they pay attention once it drops below $10, $8, $2 ?

Let's hope so. :yar:

Glad the story turned out to be untrue, but I wonder what that user in the story was going through...

Maybe they gave her the beta registration page that's still in testing phases, by accident.

they are going to start accepting PP on Ayden in the Spring of 2019, at which point there shouldn't be any difference at all in sales.

I'm not sure why they dont just go ahead and allow it. Makes zero sense to me...

Try this on for size, ebs..

Coincidentally, you have to have your Paypal account SSN verified by March 2019 in order to continue using your PP balance for payments according to the forum.

So it sounds like they don't want any funds from non-SSN verified USA Paypal accounts going into the Adyen payment system. Because then sellers could use their non-SSN verified stealth accounts to purchase from their eBay stores with Adyen enabled, and have a cashout method, I guess.

This is just my guess at their reasoning. But I'm willing to bet "confirm your info by 3/2019 to continue using your Paypal balance" and "Paypal payments will be integrated into adyen in 3/2019" are directly tied together.

This is likely the case. You can be sure it's been well thought out to control cash flow once fully implemented.

so this update is going to be rolled out for sure? this means stealth accounts will be more limited as you will need SSN/EIN per account instead of having as many and taxing on the amounts you make

Re: No Paypal for new US Seller Accounts?

FYI: ALL merchant account processors require SSN/EIN, they need some sort of Tax ID anyway.

Aside from the Tax ID requirement, there is the matter of underwriting and identity verification. It's this that we don't know the extent of. Will they simply accept any SSN/EIN # you give them to satisfy that requirement, or will they actually check to see if it's valid? I know from experience, any merchant processor does a credit check or at least checks the identity details much like a bank would.

If that's the case you can be sure you can't have a stealth account as using any other details other than your own would consititue identity theft.
