| Sunspot144 | 01-01-2019 04:04 PM | Re: scamming buyer Nothing you can really do. Mail him a giant box full of $hit without a return address. Maybe rig it up to be spring-loaded.
Or is he selling anything himself? |
| BigCJ | 01-01-2019 04:10 PM | Re: scamming buyer file a police report online. |
Re: scamming buyer This type of scam is pretty common these days and strange thing is ebay always takes side of the scammer/buyer. |
| nickopedia | 01-01-2019 07:01 PM | Re: scamming buyer It doesn't matter what the reason is for the return. In fact, I have gotten returns with no comments at all, and even one that had gibberish text like you did with "abc123" in the comments field. They are auto approved and it's highly unlikely anyone other than you and your buyer will see them.
Filing a police report accomplishes nothing. Law Enforcement is so busy with other more serious cases 99% of the time they will just put into their files and not investigate.
I have other ways of dealing with problem buyers/sellers, but those methods are outside the scope of this forum. |
| Pedroalva | 01-01-2019 07:25 PM | Re: scamming buyer If eBay decided so nothing to do , I always prefer to sell not expensive items ( max 40-50 USD) |

Hence they will give the seller the money and let the buyer keep the item.
Ive lost only 2 cases out of the years of using ebay/paypal and dealing with scammers. And thats because It wasnt worth the cost of the item.
Im not understanding how people do not take precautions when selling high priced items. But then again, I dont sell anything over a certain amount on ebay. :ranger: |

| mepeh | 01-01-2019 11:12 PM | Re: scamming buyer Keep your item value under 50-100$ to avoid scams.
Add them to your blocked buyers with this link: https://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....dderBlockLogin
Mention in their feedback that they are scammers (even with a positive only feedback)
Taking pictures with the orders you ship doesn't help. We tried.
Filing Police Reports is time consuming and who would you file it under if you have a stealth account... |

| WasTopRatedThenBanned | 01-02-2019 03:05 AM | Re: scamming buyer Cost of doing Business....Retail Stores get robbed everyday..Not trying to be rude, i feel your pain and it sucks...in the end, it's just one of those things that is always bound to happen. Always make sure you can afford to take a hit or two to maintain Business such as re-ordering products, paying bills etc...
Also, be sure to memorize the scam buyers address, especially the city and state, if he gets over you one time, i would be paranoid of him or a friend of his to do it again.
You could search online and make up some court documents and send it to him looking professional...obviously money is out of the question but a small claims court threat or something in that nature unless item is returned in the order it was received. |

| mrgazer | 01-02-2019 04:51 AM | Re: scamming buyer file a police report, write to ebay formally requesting a refund due to buyer abusing ebay rules. After 10+ attempts ebay will probably refund you. Buyer will still keep the phone and refund, nothing you can do about it.
Send him a box of dog Sh!T with grasshoppers (ensure box is big enough for them to stay alive). This is the best way of going round it. |

Maybe it's because they know they're going to make money again when the scammer resells the phone on eBay next week.

So if you have time to make a thread on this forum, you have time to file one and get a shot at getting your money back. :ranger:
The point is that the IC3 report will probably no affect the buyer (If even the buyer is stealth) but it puts ebay on blast that they are not protecting their sellers. The more IC3 reports file, the more unwanted attention ebay / paypal gets.
I used to sell higher ticket items and ran into scammers left and right. Thats how I dealt with them and got my money back.
If you still plan on selling high ticket items, use ebay for the traffic and try to get the buyers to pay via cash on meetup or off site transactions (Be in mind about ebays policies about contacting off the site though) |

Heck with the grasshoppers.... I would send the scammer a box of cockroaches. You can buy them in bulk from many pet shops and online. :) |

I'm sorry to hear there was a problem with the item. I understand that you received an empty packaged of your supposedly returned item.
We need your help to resolve this case. Please file an incident report with your local law enforcement agency (police department). Filing an incident report is generally free of charge and is easy to do. The report documents that there's been a problem.
Here are the details that must be included in the report:
-- Description of the item received
-- Name of the officer filing the report
-- Officer's badge number
-- Station location (city and state)
-- Station phone number
We've placed this case on hold for 10 days to allow you to get an incident report. Once you have the report, you can scan it and upload it via this link:

The eggs can be hidden in a toy so they will hatch in that bad buyer's house. |
