Re: scamming buyer

Nothing you can really do. Mail him a giant box full of $hit without a return address. Maybe rig it up to be spring-loaded.

Or is he selling anything himself?

file a police report online.

Re: scamming buyer

This type of scam is pretty common these days and strange thing is ebay always takes side of the scammer/buyer.

nickopedia 01-01-2019 07:01 PM

Re: scamming buyer

It doesn't matter what the reason is for the return. In fact, I have gotten returns with no comments at all, and even one that had gibberish text like you did with "abc123" in the comments field. They are auto approved and it's highly unlikely anyone other than you and your buyer will see them.

Filing a police report accomplishes nothing. Law Enforcement is so busy with other more serious cases 99% of the time they will just put into their files and not investigate.

I have other ways of dealing with problem buyers/sellers, but those methods are outside the scope of this forum.

Re: scamming buyer

If eBay decided so nothing to do , I always prefer to sell not expensive items ( max 40-50 USD)

Filing a police report and showing it to ebay will force their hands most of the time because they do not want law enforcement involved. Hence they will give the seller the money and let the buyer keep the item.

Ive lost only 2 cases out of the years of using ebay/paypal and dealing with scammers. And thats because It wasnt worth the cost of the item.

Im not understanding how people do not take precautions when selling high priced items. But then again, I dont sell anything over a certain amount on ebay. :ranger:

Re: scamming buyer

Keep your item value under 50-100$ to avoid scams.
Add them to your blocked buyers with this link:
https://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....dderBlockLogin
Mention in their feedback that they are scammers (even with a positive only feedback)

Taking pictures with the orders you ship doesn't help. We tried.
Filing Police Reports is time consuming and who would you file it under if you have a stealth account...

Re: scamming buyer

Cost of doing Business....Retail Stores get robbed everyday..Not trying to be rude, i feel your pain and it sucks...in the end, it's just one of those things that is always bound to happen. Always make sure you can afford to take a hit or two to maintain Business such as re-ordering products, paying bills etc...

Also, be sure to memorize the scam buyers address, especially the city and state, if he gets over you one time, i would be paranoid of him or a friend of his to do it again.

You could search online and make up some court documents and send it to him looking professional...obviously money is out of the question but a small claims court threat or something in that nature unless item is returned in the order it was received.

Common Scam by refunders, you can get your package weighted and take a photo before sending.

mrgazer 01-02-2019 04:51 AM

Re: scamming buyer

file a police report, write to ebay formally requesting a refund due to buyer abusing ebay rules. After 10+ attempts ebay will probably refund you. Buyer will still keep the phone and refund, nothing you can do about it.

Send him a box of dog Sh!T with grasshoppers (ensure box is big enough for them to stay alive). This is the best way of going round it.

Maybe it's because they know they're going to make money again when the scammer resells the phone on eBay next week.

Filing an IC3 report can be done for stealth as well.
So if you have time to make a thread on this forum, you have time to file one and get a shot at getting your money back. :ranger:

The point is that the IC3 report will probably no affect the buyer (If even the buyer is stealth) but it puts ebay on blast that they are not protecting their sellers. The more IC3 reports file, the more unwanted attention ebay / paypal gets.

I used to sell higher ticket items and ran into scammers left and right. Thats how I dealt with them and got my money back.

If you still plan on selling high ticket items, use ebay for the traffic and try to get the buyers to pay via cash on meetup or off site transactions (Be in mind about ebays policies about contacting off the site though)

I love it! :d

Heck with the grasshoppers.... I would send the scammer a box of cockroaches. You can buy them in bulk from many pet shops and online. :)

Re: scamming buyer

just an update i filed an appeal last night with ebay over the phone and they are requesting a police report to continue

Quote:

I'm sorry to hear there was a problem with the item. I understand that you received an empty packaged of your supposedly returned item.

We need your help to resolve this case. Please file an incident report with your local law enforcement agency (police department). Filing an incident report is generally free of charge and is easy to do. The report documents that there's been a problem.

Here are the details that must be included in the report:
-- Description of the item received
-- Name of the officer filing the report
-- Officer's badge number
-- Station location (city and state)
-- Station phone number

We've placed this case on hold for 10 days to allow you to get an incident report. Once you have the report, you can scan it and upload it via this link:

Do they sell the eggs of the cockroaches?
The eggs can be hidden in a toy so they will hatch in that bad buyer's house.

Good that means they know you are taking it seriously.

File it, send it to them, you'll probably win now.:bounce:

But it's stealth info, can he just let the police that know that he is just DBA? Or does that even matter.

I don't think that matters much. I'd put time into something like this and not let that go

Agree - calling is not likely to do much since report has to be made, etc.

Not so much a phone call that is needed as a report ;)

Re: scamming buyer

The smart thing would be to charge it to the game & try to prevent it from happening again. Anything else will most likely cost you more time, effort, and frustration then its worth. But with that said I probably would show up at their front door. But I don't handle my anger well lol. I personally wouldn't involve the police in anything ever. The only thing I cant stand more than eBay and scammers is cops. Those pig *******s are pretty useless when you need them.

I know man, I know. It's all a cash grab. If it doesn't make money for the people on top, it doesn't make sense in America.

What can you do other than trying to make a little $ yourself.

Re: scamming buyer

We had an issue with a guy on eBay harassing sellers of a particular item. For over a year and a half this guy would message sellers saying their item was ⊗⊗⊗⊗ and saying he was reporting them to the police and eBay. He would also place orders from the same sellers with no intention of ever paying, just to leave bad reviews!

Little did this guy know that the sellers of these items were messaging each other about this troublemaker, including me. We exchanged information such as his name, address, phone number, etc. gathered from sales history. A group of us then decided to call eBay about this harasser on the same day- His account ended up going NARU (not a registered user) the next day, presumably because of the mass of complaints. :)

As great as eBay is, there are people who just make your blood boil.

Wait, I thought that you can't leave a negative feedback if you don't pay for the item.

And darn, a lot of work to nail one idiot. LIke they said I guess... 1 bad apple ruins the rest.
