How do sellers outside the US deal with time difference?

The reason I ask is because a buyer filled my inbox with multiple messages and ended up purchasing the item and asked a few more questions. Of course, I was asleep as I'm not in the same country. How do those in the same situation deal with this problem? Stay awake more hours?

I don't see this as a problem. You can't just give your life away to answer to people.
So have a schedule when you wake up, what your tasks are and when you are done for the day.

Otherwise you won't last long.

Trust me I was there and it made my work less efficient eventually when I didn't do what I advised you.

for listing and all work we use scheduling as per USA time.

I make excellent listings so the amount of questions are minimal.
I spend too much time working, so when I do get questions I usually answer within a couple of hours anyway.

I do work from the other side of the planet and I am 99% focused on the American market. I line up the shipping when almost all clients are asleep. This works very well, because I can handle all the repetitive work while not getting distracted by new orders coming in.

Just answer them in your free time. You don't need to break your routine.
My working hours actually favor US timezone as i stay awake for quite a few hours extra and wake up a bit late in the morning.

I often work my across time zones, and it's rarely a problem wheather I'm in Asia or the US west coast. I can take advantage of the listing pre-scheduling to make my listings live during USA business hours.
