Default Ebay shutting down Big Time Sellers

Today as I was checking out a few competitors, I noticed they had no items for sale, then I checked there completed listings, and those also were not there. I checked there feedback, and clicked on the view item links, and every one of the items had the message: This listing has been removed, or this item is not available. These are big time top rated sellers with feedback over 5000+ each! They also sell all vero. Not sure what took Ebay so long to close there accounts, anyone notice the same thing happening to other sellers with that type of feedback getting the BOOT.

tell me, nobody, why does it matter what the ID is? It's not your business to know in what category Enigma sells her gear. Go look in whatever category you sell and see if anyone has gone
Don't tempt me to change your name to nosey999 lol

Why do you need to know the seller? There is no need to know this information. All we need to know is that ebay is taking action against even the big sellers. Period.

Anyways, getting back to topic. Ebay is starting to implement rules on everyone, not just the small sellers.

Yea, Enigma I also noticed that a few Big Sellers that I track also seemed to have gotten the boot over the last 2 weeks. I also noticed that average Number of Auction Listings in the catagorys that I track Has gone up slightly in April Making it the 3rd straight Month, I have NEVER seen that.

If you would read the news....

There have been A LOT of arrests and warrants served for people selling counterfeits lately.

Most likely, they got taken down!

out of interest, why do you think ebay would do this, I mean I know about the vero merchants, but for generic stuff, it is money being lost for them - doesnt make any sense..

As mentioned earlier, an increase in criminal prosecutions for illicit goods is at least partly to blame.

If a large operator gets arrested, the computers confiscated, and the data thoroughly investigated, you can certainly expect the authorities to contact whichever ecommerce venue was used by the perpetrator.

Also, as mentioned elsewhere above, this is nothing new. It's a somewhat predictable cycle.

Have you noticed that certain members of this forum have been fairly inactive for a while? Some people know when to reduce their own activity to avoid scrutiny.

I try to schedule my own medical complications to coincide with unfavorable changes in the virtual marketplace.

Just sayin'

Ebay and Paypal are moving much like the war on illegal aliens .. they just keep making it more and more difficult to move around and people just eventually pack up .... in my state i just went to change my address on my drivers license and new laws went into effect on the Jan 1st .... so i need my passport or B.C. .. my ss# card .. 2 pcs of mail with the new adddress on it ....and if you are female with a name change - well you need alot more ... the new tax reporting from paypal will kill alot of sellers .

Coming soon. Paypal will be reporting your annual gross transaction total to the eye are ess. But it is stated that your gross total would have to exceed a certain amount.

That was announced late last year and is scheduled to take effect within the next year. I can't recall the exact date it becomes effective and I cannot find the thread where it is posted with details.

Search around here or go directly to the Paypal site and find it. Or perhaps JFGI 'paypal report taxes'...

i talked to paypal around 2 months ago - they will report for the 2011 tax year cant remember the dollar or transaction amount minium - but they will report in Jan 2012 .. you will also have to give a valid ss# to use paypal or your account will be terminated and if you give a false ss# that they dont catch you will be at risk of commiting tax evasion and illegal use of a ss# ...I wondered if this played in to the whole ebay not allowing you to advertise you take money orders thing .

from what i remember about your post a few months ago..they will report if the gross is 20k+ or 200 transactions

the end is coming soon on stealth accounts,if ssn is mandatory, than there is no possible way around this unless you get friends or family to open up accounts, there have always been ways around stuff ebay/paypal do but this is the end, better make yer $$ now

That's why you use another payment provider and not Paypal!

Some people don't meet the qualifications for other methods of payment.
Most buyers want to use Paypal.

Those are the two main reasons many of us continue to circumvent or adjust to Paypal complications.

I can tell you that I have tried merchant processing on ebay twice before. No buyers would use it. (I have already established the reason my buyers won't use it, it just is what it is)

For me, Paypal problems are now a minor nuisance. So I stick with Paypal.

Cardfelon, I don't knock you for mentioning that there are other ways. However, THIS thread is about big ebay sellers and has already digressed into Paypal.

I'd suggest that the Paypal Tax talk should continue in the proper thread, and the Paypal alternatives talk continue in the proper thread.

Yes, I'm one of the guilty people who ran off topic.
