First of all, only put your name to the letter and not your signature. Then send it in such a way that the agency has to acknowledge they received it. That way you are covered if they say 'we never got your letter'. You at least have that piece of paper to say it was received. The extra money to send is your insurance

Definitely use either certified return receipt, or send it with signature
confirmation

Thanks so much! Will the agency definetly sign for the letter, or have they been known to refuse/return to sender etc????????

It is with IC systems (I think that was the name) I figured I would need proof that they letter did in fact get to them, but I didnt know how they handle mail that way....if they refuse it...etc.

Their refusal to accept mail would be dangerous to them in pursuit of a claim. Sending it certified or registered is for your benefit.

Although this article is for Alabama, its principles apply in most cases:

One more thing......since it is said to not sign the denial/proof letter.....will it still be taken seriously without a signature? Also, there is a street address and PO Box address on the letter that is stated to be the collection agencies address, which is it best to send the certified letter to? On the envenlope should I put the return address which is my address that they have listed on the letter? Or should I just leave the top left hand side of the envenlope blank?

Thanks!

I'm not trying to argue with you or anything; it sounds like you've used them before?

I found this about Lexington on the first page of Google:

CreditForum.ORG - Lexington law firm does NOT provide dispute letters to clients? SPAM disputes ONLY?

Why? As a means of protection. Signature can not be used against person
if none given.

how could a signature be used against you? Maybe its a little different in austalia. Has anyone in the US done this and not had any problems. In cause I ever need to do this i dont want something they are going to throw back in my face like oh we didnt take you seriously because its not a legal statement without a signature. I know how the justice system can be.

Actually took circuit city to court for a gift card they let someone else use even though it was mine and it got thrown out because i signed a paper in the wrong place and their lawyers caught it.

Thats one person who wanted to see the exact letters or method that Lexington Law was using on their behalf to get the negatives removed.

I myself have been a customer for quite some time now. I personally dont care what theyre saying to collection agencies. If its working to have negatives removed, go for it. Ill agree with whatever they want to get my credit score better.

IF it was NOT pertinent to the US why would I say it,sdot? Are you assuming my comments are based on Australian matters only? Don't do that.

no need to get upset. This is a big deal and i want all the info i can get and want to make sure its valid for me thats all. I gave you my exact reason as to why too. Ive been in a situation where a technicality cost me money in court so i just wanted to make sure it was valid everywhere. Esp since laws are different and paypal protocol is different all over the world. If it wasnt we wouldnt have those flags by our names to let everyone know where we are from to answer accordingly

You are having a go because of that deleted post, aren't you? If I give an answer about another country's ways I QUALIFY the answer if I am basing it on local knowledge. I am aware of matters for debt collection in three different countries. Is it acceptable for you for me to make a reply then? Or should I hold back because I have the wrong flag by my name?

Look I dont know what your problem is but you are really making a big deal out of nothing. It has nothing to do with my deleted post. Im just looking for the best information out there. Isnt that what the board is for. I meant no disrespect to you in asking if anyone from the US has done this and you got very defensive. Fact of the matter is that bill collectors are different in different countries and so are policies. Jeez dude you need to get over your own ego here. I didnt say anything mean to you at all.

Hey GreenBean! Feel free to close this post if need be. I dont know why I seem to have questions/create posts that cause so much "stuff". I apologize for that. I did end up sending the denial/proof letter via certified mail w/ return receipt, I didnt sign the letter as suggested and I have yet to hear anything from the collection agency. So seems all good so far. Thanks GreenBean and to all who helped me with my post!
