Default Does anyone have issues because of too many eBay Defects?

Defects are caused just by having a buyer escalate a case to eBay before you have had a chance to work out the issue with them.

If your defects are above 00.30% of your orders your listings all go to the back of the search results and if they are not removed you will likely be banned.

Has this ever been a major concern for anyone else or is it just me?

It's never been an issue at all on any of our accounts.

I remember when eBay modified the seller dashboard a couple of years ago and reduced it to a .3% defect rate threshold. At the time it scared me because it was a significant decrease compared to previously. Luckily it hasn't been an issue. We haven't had eBay intervene in any cases since that update.

one of my accts went down b/c of this - i didn't know that if i didn't fight the returns cases it will be held against me. so now i always fight the returns case (if buyer is wrong) so i dont get a high defect rate

Well, if it's the sellers fault, I would msg the buyer that I'll take care of it and make sure they are happy with the solution.

If it's their fault, I always fight. I'm not the type to just give in.

Never ever ignore those claims. Don't be lazy.

Returns have been discussed in detail, but you can be sure they are counted as a "defect" depending on the reason the buyer selects for returning. eBay doesn't like a lot of returns, and if any of these are the reason, it IS a defect.

Defective or doesn't work
Doesn't match the listing
Missing parts or accessories
Arrived damaged
Counterfeit or phake

If you fight the return, you are likely to have it turn into a case, and as soon as that happens, you are going to have bigger problems. eBay will nearly always side with a buyer on a return, period.
