I have been selling on ebay when it had like 20,000 listings,we paid 5 cents per listing,we can bid on our own auction.
We paid Ebay bill by sending a check .
Buyers paid us with cash,money order,check,postal orders.
anyone can leave feedback,they dont have to buy from you.
I sell physical items,mostly collectibles.
I have very few INAD,INR or chargebacks.
eBAY has really gone downhill,look at AMZN ,just a book store then,look at it now?
And Ebay founder tuned the business to professional Harvard MBAs,look what they have not done !!!!!!!
Someone once told me,dont put the cheap stuff next to your high end stuff,it is not going to help you sell your high end ones,someone forget to tell these MBAs!
Do you know at one time Meg Whitman wants to offer health insurance to power sellers and the insurance underwriter said NO,you cannot categorise Ebay powersellers and figure the premuim

I filed a police report now. I have until tomorrow to make my decision for return or refund. In addition, i have opened a case against the buyer falsifying claims of INAD.

That's a good step, but you might also need to fill out an fraud affidavit, but the police report might be enough.

This is something you need to CALL eBay about. Making a report online is unlikely to accomplish much of anything. Hopefully the rep you get will be sympathetic to your case and grant you relief under Seller Protection.

autofeedback has been around for eons,it is an Ebay feature for both buyers and sellers,since sellers sell so many items,they dont have time to leave feedbacks,so this is a feature Ebay comes up with,you h ave a choice when to leave feedback,after payment,after delivery or after ???

No one knows who is telling the truth except the buyer and seller,I told you of a case where a Florida shop sold a $24K watch to a buyer who returned the item,it weighs less so the shop called the police,open the package and it has box and paper but no watch,so they file a report and called Ebay.
Ebay told them to refund in 3 days and take it up with Fed Exp,after 3 days,Ebay will refund for them.
Hence the saying-dont sell anything you cant afford to lose.
This is nothing new,empty box received,empty box returned,more common with gold coins,gold chains and rolls of collectible silver coins.

Not so,it is easy to turn gold into cash,electronics,it would take longer and depreciates in value.
Gold could rise in value.

I will take gold over electronics any time.
With gold,I can turn it back to cash and buy brand new electronics WITH warranty

Update: call e bay. Ultimately, the only thing I can do is wait until the buyer submits documentation to E bay. The only way that I will not get my money or laptop back is if the buyer does not respond back to e bay within a specified timeframe.

my apology,sellers can use EBAY seller manager but buyers have to use private software.
Years ago when Ebay did not have all the bells and whistles like today ,someone was selling software for Ebay buyers and sellers,forget the name,but many bought the software,it will leave feedback for both buyers and sellers.
I never understand why these buyers leave me positive feedback before I pack and ship the item??

let us know how it turns out.
some times a buyer will just not respond and the case will close in your favor.
If he is a repeat offender,Ebay could suspend his buying privilege as he is a hazard to Ebay seller community,it has happened to buyers who file too many cases.

You need to call eBay and insist on a police report. I'm not sure how you sent it but Fed-Ex ground has a lot of really scumbag drivers so it is actually conceivable that someone opened the package and replaced it with a telephone book or something.

If it is an honest customer they will go to the police department immediately and be fully cooperative.

If it is a scammer they won't go to the police department.

No,it is the buyer,he left feedback and then a week later said there is no laptop.
Typical Ebay scammer!
They need a laptop but cant afford it,so they come to Ebay and help themselves with whatever they need.

Ebay is now looking into it,if the buyer loses,he will go to his cc issuer and file chargeback.
i hope Ebay will honor its seller protection and eat the loss and block the buyer.
