The safety of Firefox is not the weak link.
DSL via SBC/Yahoo or AT&T/Yahoo is the weak link, regardless of what browser you use. That DSL requires that you modem log in to the service. Your modem uses your ID and password every time you powercycle it and every time your DHCP lease expires.
Cable modems don't log in before getting IP address. Some DSL connections don't log in either. But some DO log in. At the modem level. Even if the PC is off. So your modem can give you up, even if your browswer, cookies, and IP address do not.
This was not a problem in the past. Newly implemented issues have *begun* to make this problematic. It's still in development stages and not perfect yet. But it works sortof and sometimes. It will become more accurate as time passes. Quote:
