I have sold a item through the global shipping program and the buyer unfortunately has a faulty item that needs to be returned for either a replacement or a refund.

How does the return process work?

Shall I tell the buyer to open a return?

Do I pay return shipping from his country to my address? or from his country back to the global shipping centre and then pay again from there to my address?

How is it working if I need to ship a replacement?

Any clue please?

Have I read that right?

So its MY responsibility to refund the buyer and ebay will not force any refunds other than the original shipping cost the buyer paid?

So effectively, theres no system in place for returns and certainly not replacements without communicating directly and arranging directly with the buyer?

GSP returns are a nightmare and no real system is in place. Last one I did, I called eBay and they said I had to provide a return label or just refund them.

I use GsP all the time. 80 percent of what I sell is Gsp. I say to the buyer to open a damaged in transit request. This way the buyer keeps the item,gets a full refund and you keep your ££££. GsP have insurance in place for this. But when the buyer sends the first message stating it's damages / broke you need to say something like: this must have happened during transit as it was tested/fully working etc before dispatch. Which I imagine it was. All the best

GSP return is different ,the other poster gave you some good advice,if it is broken in transit,GSP is at fault as they repack your shipment.
GSP also have an insurance policy,they will file claim.
In most cases,GSP does not want the item back

Unfortunately the buyer had a twitchy butt and immediately opened a return today as "Doesn't work or is defective". What are my options now?

This is a very expensive item and have no idea how to pay for return shipping from his country? Or can he change the return reason?

That is not a problem as you can mark the return that you do not ship from their country and not provide shipping, when they open a resolution case it will get closed without any effect to you and usually eBay will refund them out of their own funds.

I am talking about an order value of $20 to $80 here, I have had a lot of these over the years. If yours is an expensive item then the best course of action is to contact the buyer and explain that you can not send a shipping label and that you will refund them the order and shipping when received back.

Dunno bro. Best I'd suggest if it were me. Find a company that will collect it n deliver it bk to you. DHL maybe. Depends where it is. Pay return postage and send him a label. And hopefully all will go smoothly. At least you know for next time. I believe depending on your messages between each other. U could some how say it got damaged in transit. And explain to him if he closes return request and opens a damaged in transit request he can keep item and get refund. But depends what you've said in messages cos apparently eBay looks at these. Just a thought, try logging in to eBay from the buyers countries site and access your returns from there as they may be able to send the buyer a return label from their country.

Also all GSP returns go back to the seller not the hub you ship to.

So first I need to try request his address as its nowhere to be seen in ebay.

It does seem I can book from DE to UK on parcel2go and upstoday websites. So looks like its possible.

Yes. Ebay always wants you to either provide a label, or send them money to buy a label, or they will close it against you and refund them and let them keep the item. This goes for any international sale where ebay can't provide their own label.

This may be true within 30 days Ebay Money back guarantee,but if buyer goes to Paypal,he has to pay for return shipping unless he has applied in advance when he made payment that he could get a credit of $xx from Paypal.
As for seller sending buyer $$ to buy return shipping label,I have seen some sellers turn around and file INR,and gets his money back !!!!!!!!

You never send the buyer any money for shipping either provide a shipping label or money for shipping with refund.

First off, no one is talking about paypal. Why do you always bring up tangents that have nothing to do with the conversation?

And obviously we are talking about ebay 30 day money back, or else a seller could just close the return themselves.

And sure, if you send money with paypal, you can get your money back. Then again, they can easily provide the tracking number FOR THE LABEL YOU PAID FOR, so what is your point?

That's not how that works. Ebay requires you to provide a label ( which isn't easy when they are in another country), or pay them for the cost of the label, BEFORE you send a refund.

that tracking number would not work,YOu can only use the same tracking number once(these are 2 separate cases)

as for Paypal,this is good to point out,after ebay ,it is paypal,after paypal ,it is chargeback.

if so,then Ebay of the buyer country has to calculate how much is postage from local post office,I dont think EBay is willing to do that.
It is not as straight forward as domestic return,just reverse the addresses,keep the same weight and form of shipment.
