Return via GSP

I have sold a item through the global shipping program and the buyer unfortunately has a faulty item that needs to be returned for either a replacement or a refund.

How does the return process work?

Shall I tell the buyer to open a return?

Do I pay return shipping from his country to my address? or from his country back to the global shipping centre and then pay again from there to my address?

How is it working if I need to ship a replacement?

Any clue please?

Re: Return via GSP

Have I read that right?

So its MY responsibility to refund the buyer and ebay will not force any refunds other than the original shipping cost the buyer paid?

So effectively, theres no system in place for returns and certainly not replacements without communicating directly and arranging directly with the buyer?

GSP returns are a nightmare and no real system is in place. Last one I did, I called eBay and they said I had to provide a return label or just refund them.

Re: Return via GSP

I use GsP all the time. 80 percent of what I sell is Gsp. I say to the buyer to open a damaged in transit request. This way the buyer keeps the item, gets a full refund and you keep your ££££. GsP have insurance in place for this. But when the buyer sends the first message stating it's damages / broke you need to say something like: this must have happened during transit as it was tested/fully working etc before dispatch. Which I imagine it was. All the best

GSP return is different ,the other poster gave you some good advice,if it is broken in transit,GSP is at fault as they repack your shipment.
GSP also have an insurance policy, they will file claim.
In most cases,GSP does not want the item back

Unfortunately the buyer had a twitchy butt and immediately opened a return today as "Doesn't work or is defective". What are my options now?

This is a very expensive item and have no idea how to pay for return shipping from his country? Or can he change the return reason?

Re: Return via GSP

That is not a problem as you can mark the return that you do not ship from their country and not provide shipping, when they open a resolution case it will get closed without any effect to you and usually eBay will refund them out of their own funds.

I am talking about an order value of $20 to $80 here, I have had a lot of these over the years. If yours is an expensive item then the best course of action is to contact the buyer and explain that you can not send a shipping label and that you will refund them the order and shipping when received back.

Re: Return via GSP

Dunno bro. Best I'd suggest if it were me. Find a company that will collect it n deliver it bk to you. DHL maybe. Depends where it is. Pay return postage and send him a label. And hopefully all will go smoothly. At least you know for next time. I believe depending on your messages between each other. U could some how say it got damaged in transit. And explain to him if he closes return request and opens a damaged in transit request he can keep item and get refund. But depends what you've said in messages cos apparently eBay looks at these. All the best

Re: Return via GSP

Just a thought, try logging in to eBay from the buyers countries site and access your returns from there as they may be able to send the buyer a return label from their country.

Also all GSP returns go back to the seller not the hub you ship to.

Thanks guys,

So first I need to try request his address as its nowhere to be seen in ebay.

It does seem I can book from DE to UK on parcel2go and upstoday websites. So looks like its possible.

Buyer in Australia demanded a return label, I said I'll refund his postage upon receipt, ebay simply refunded him. I assume they expected (although their policy says otherwise) that I do an initial partial refund to cover postage. Who knows?

Yes. Ebay always wants you to either provide a label, or send them money to buy a label, or they will close it against you and refund them and let them keep the item. This goes for any international sale where ebay can't provide their own label.

Re: Return via GSP

This may be true within 30 days Ebay Money back guarantee, but if buyer goes to Paypal,he has to pay for return shipping unless he has applied in advance when he made payment that he could get a credit of $xx from Paypal.
As for seller sending buyer $$ to buy return shipping label,I have seen some sellers turn around and file INR,and gets his money back !!!!!!!!

Re: Return via GSP

You never send the buyer any money for shipping either provide a shipping label or money for shipping with refund.

First off, no one is talking about paypal. Why do you always bring up tangents that have nothing to do with the conversation?

And obviously we are talking about ebay 30 day money back, or else a seller could just close the return themselves.

And sure, if you send money with paypal, you can get your money back. Then again, they can easily provide the tracking number FOR THE LABEL YOU PAID FOR, so what is your point?

That's not how that works. Ebay requires you to provide a label ( which isn't easy when they are in another country), or pay them for the cost of the label, BEFORE you send a refund.

-----------------
that tracking number would not work,YOu can only use the same tracking number once(these are 2 separate cases)

----------
as for Paypal, this is good to point out, after ebay ,it is paypal, after paypal ,it is chargeback.

if so,then Ebay of the buyer country has to calculate how much is postage from local post office,I dont think EBay is willing to do that.
It is not as straight forward as domestic return, just reverse the addresses, keep the same weight and form of shipment.

technically, she isn't wrong about INR cases. You CAN open one, on paypal, unless they send it as friends and family, that is.

Again, you're talking about something else entirely. The tracking number provided, is for RETURNS. Has nothing to do with being able to use a tracking number once. Let alone, you'd be using it on PAYPAL, which has nothing to do with the bay case. At all.

so there won't be any ebay cases for the cost of the return label you provided, and unless they specifically used a creditcard, there also won't be a charge back.

OR WORSE,INAD and make the buyer pays for return shipping.
(There is a seller who has done so and bragged about it,either this site or elsewhere, you guys cant be that innocent, naive, given the nature of this forum)

as a buyer, i've gotten an international seller to send me a payment for shipping. Even sent me a partial refund for shipping, at first. Which does not count. So I decided to just keep the item after all, and not waste my time shipping. He couldn't do anything. Just kept sending me invoices for the shipping cost. The item he sent me was extremely not as described, before anyone tries calling me the bad guy. He got off lucky. Didn't even leave a neg.

Re: Return via GSP

An US seller sold a used equipment to a French buyer, buyer asked him to declare a lower value which he refused.
So the buyer paid hefty customs fee, then filed INAD and make the seller pick up return shipping .
Seller did not get his equipment back, but a box of scrap metals,in the end,the buyer wins, all he paid is the French customs duty and a box of scrap metals.
Is that fair?

Once again, in a conversation with you, I have zero clue what any of what you said, has to do with any of what we are discussing. Is it fair I'm not a millionaire?

You have two choices, forget the item and give the buyer his money back or figure out a way to get the item back and give the buyer his money back.

Global shipping program there is no way to do returns. I don't know about EU but for USA sellers GSP is suicide.

Luckily I am in the UK and he is in DE, so I was easily able to book a DPD label and send it to him. He agreed to drop it off to the parcel shop which is 2 miles from him. Lets see how it goes.

WOW.

So the buyer decided to return the item at my cost with the actual item missing from its plastic case. Buyer is about to win a £300 item for nothing.

What are my options guys?

This is rough - did you happen to take photos of the item when you opened the box? Was it registered by weight from the buyer?
Very difficult situation to resolve J4G3D

I did not take photos or videos this time as it all seemed genuine.

I guess the only thing I can do is ask the couriers and GSP for the shipping weight? That way we can determine where it went lighter.

Perhaps it can help if you get some proof of weight difference - if it was registered

It should be registered as its going from UK to DE and then back again. So i'll assume it was weighed individually before shipping. But it looks like ebay are asking the buyer for the tracking number, when he supplies it and they see its been delivered, they'll refund him.. it seems.

agent006140 01-24-2020 12:59 PM

Re: Return via GSP

In USA,showing the weight difference from the shipping label is no proof,as I can buy a label weighing more than what I plan to ship.
also it could be the right weight but garbage inside, like a box of rocks.
In US,we file with the carrier,if it is a private shipper, you may get indemnity from them, not much, but better than nothing.
Taking video proves nothing, you can take it out and then make video ,
There is a shop which gets a return ,call the police and open the package,it is empty, they filed a police report ,Ebay gave them 3 days to refund $25k and take it up with Fed Exp.
The most they can get from Fed Exp is $100 indemnity,$1k for jewelry,Fed exp offers no insurance, you have to buy it elsewhere.
Call your shipper and ask what options do you have

ebay can do nothing for you as it has noway to tell who is telling the truth ,all you can do is report him to ebay,if he does it too many times,Ebay will suspend his buying privilege on EBay

No, I booked the courier and I booked it at 1KG to be safe. The item only weighs 0.10kg. This item has to go on a plane, so they would of weighed it at some point, that is my logic behind it.

Anyway, the buyer is blaming the courier and has escalated the ebay case. He knows exactly what he is doing.

I believe my compensation level was only 20GBP. But how would I then prove to the courier that I received an empty box? I don't think im covered TBH.
