Re: DHL delays from China

DHL performance has greatly improved but prices are still high. It's taking 5-6 days now to get shipments instead of 3 weeks. We haven't had anything lost... just one shipment held up for a long time with fedex.

Thanks, It's been like amrmageddon out there for getting stock in since January. At least there's hope if things are gradually getting better.

Still feels like armageddon for me with the MP rollout threatening 95% of my current sales, but hey, shipping is getting better or w/e. :/

Re: DHL delays from China

Phazorz I had a few bans 2013-15 but I don't think they were lifetime, as eBay let me back on with my real details. I just registered with MP with my real name and they didn't ask for my address. Just my name. I can't believe they would ban people via name only. Are they going to ban every John Smith because one didn't follow rules?

Re: DHL delays from China

They dont ask address for existing Ebay sellers, they figure address you have on file is current.
Also they dont need your physical address for bank transfer

They're probably just giving people a fresh try in the new ecosystem.

I have an account in too but it has the least volume of all my accounts. My concern is when I'm forced to apply with the rest of my accounts. :violin:

I guess it might work out somehow.

Re: DHL delays from China

Send pick up to chinese contact from your DHL agent. The shipping will start from China and not from hong hong...they want to use their shipping agent because giving the shipping to agent that will start from hong kong will be money saving in a given fiscal aspect. So if they tell you can't send your logistic please tell them stop to say bull****!
The reason of the late shippings is about queue in hong kong custom for the parcels coming from china mainland...you need to avoid starting from hong kong

I have 3 shipments leaving out of Taiwan and it has taken a long time. The oldest since 04/25 and still there. Anyone else waiting this long?

Re: DHL delays from China

Confirmed there are huge delays from China. Prices have about doubled. I ship 3 to 4 packages air freight a week. I have some packages taken a month to arrive. Some packages takes a week to two to even be put on the airplane. Some packages once its arrived in the destined country, will take another 1 to 2 weeks to be delivered. Crazy things. Paying more but shipping time is slower

Re: DHL delays from China

Ive waited a little over a month to get my goods picked up, but once it was picked up by UPS it took about 3-4 days to get to my city from China. Should be delivered Tuesday since tomorrow is a holiday in the USA

Re: DHL delays from China

UPS is also terribly slow in comparison to DHL these days. Pricing is also a concern as DHL is cheaper today, not because they've lowered their prices, it's just that UPS has raised theirs. Tomorrow DHL will raise prices making UPS cheaper for the moment.
There's a huge backlog of shipments in Hong Kong just waiting for airplanes to pick them up. Shipping costs will continue to rise and service will be slow as long as the coronavirus is around...a very long time I'm afraid.
I have been doubling up my order quantities over the last month in preparation for Christmas holiday sales... who does that in May?
The way I see it is anyone who doesn't start now will be caught with their pants down in 6 months, especially if Hong Kong has an uprising (they're starting) or China gets a second wave (probability is high). And Trump... no telling what he'll do to screw up trade with China. I like Trump, but he's just crazy.

You make some very valid points...things to consider. Thanks for sharing your view on this

I dont know what you guys buy from China, have you checked in your local wholesale district ,the items may have already arrived ,
or check with wholesalers online outside China-Canada,US,UK,

It doesn't matter what anyone sells. As people support their favorite suppliers in China over a period of time, you always buy at the right price. They take care of me as I take care of them (by supporting them) Any local wholesale district, US suppliers, etc charge up to 30%+ more. (About the same net profit you'll earn on Ebay after fees, shipping, materials, etc)
So price is EVERYTHING in order to make your margins. This holds true for every business, not just Ebay.

The latest quote I got was : UPS-75rmb($10.58)/kg, DHL-70rmb($9.88)/kg. From what I can tell that's only $1 or so higher than usual. What are shipping quotes looking like for you guys?

The problem is not money, the problem is the time..
It's a complete shame...and they still call it EXPRESS LOL

Re: DHL delays from China

Sorry to keep bangong on about this, but it does seem an ongoing problem...

My supplier has just given up getting stock out at the moment and she says similar suppliers are doing the same.

I sell bulky clothing with variable profit margins.

SHe says the currrent fee is $4 per kg over normal PLUS a $4 waiting in line fee.

I've told her the next shipment (skimpy summer clothing) are next to worthless if they arrive in Winter, though they will be red hot now as restrictions are easing and buying their Summer clothes onnline allied with the beautiful weather in England recently,

Is there any signs of the DHL ports easing a bit now and prices falling a bit from their peak?

Not having issues with shipments leaving Whenzhou via Shanghai, its taking 3-4 days, occasionally 5, but the cost is $12 a kilo now, which burns.

Also packages need to be under 35kg, and multiple boxes to 'break' up the weight. My supplier has got it nailed but man its expensive. I've had to stop selling items that are heavier in my inventory as the profit has been erroded somewhat in those because of this.

For anyone living in Europe, you should be using railway shipping (28-30 days), it costs 1$ per kg and is as reliable as Air Express.

I seriously can't imagine going to a rail yard to pick up inventory shipments.

More power to you though bud. I wish it were an option for us.

It's door-to-door service and it costs 1$ per kg.
