From an outsider's point of view this indicates to me that eBay is tightening down their phone number verification system. I would bet money that if a real user attempted to create a seller account using their contract-plan cell phone which is registered to their real identity, there wouldn't be any problems.

As managed payments continues to roll out eBay seems to be tightening security in many departments because their risk exposure will be increased exponentially once they're handling all of the money. This also relates to the slow identity digitization that's been happening across the world over the last decade. In the not so distant future the equivalent of your drivers license or passport will be permanently part of your online identity and it will be next to impossible to hide your real identity.

I've stopped getting this error now.

I'm planning to make my fortune before that happens; these are going to be looked upon as the "good old" or even "wild west" days in just a few years (in the same way we talk about the eBay of 10+ years ago now), and there is no way I am letting this opportunity pass me by... stealth is still easy as piss if you know what you are doing, at least for now.

you can only use a new Number from this Ebay Country where they created the account

Yo guys it’s confirmed by an agent, it’s because to the phone numbers 100% it seems like every virtual number provider is saturated, all are recycling the numbers!

This is a new# from a CA cellphone company - Public Mobile. Similar to a pay as you go plan - no contracts. They issue the SIM you place in unlocked phone - it works.

I thought for sure the eBay glitch was from a phone# from the “Hushed” App. But no that’s not the issue - seems it’s eBay.

I will try again later - if still fails, I’ll try creating a new account again. But honestly seems like a waste of time, maybe just better to pay for setup account here, and recoup the costs through profits.:ranger:

Were you creating CA accounts or US ones? CA just worked for me earlier.

CA...but when I went to list - CSRs all said to type in eBay.com in address bar.

It’s still messed up just went in there :mad:

It's not the virtual numbers, I only use real sims, real ip, all in and I get this error

Any updates? The issue still not resolved and it's still matter of trial and error. Sometimes it works and sometime NOT. Until now there is no one proven way

It's the phone number. I know my Google Voice numbers stopped working.

Same situation when I checked 2 days ago, some have said it works fine - no luck here.

Maybe need to wait 30days before listing like stealth accounts - and low risk items?!

Very frustrating and eBay CSRs have no clue.

Does anyone have a solution for this? (Except changing to real sim number- which has been confirmed that it is still not able to verify)
