eBay asking for NON proof of delivery!!!!

So I sold an engine which the buyer sent back to me due to it being faulty (so he claimed) anyway he sent it back using his own courier, about a week went past recieved nothing back. Checked the tracking it says “out for delivery” but we definitely did not receive it here. Told the buyer this who says he spoke with the company and they delivered it, even sent me what looked like sone sort of delivery reciept with a random signature on it and my address. Anyway took it up with eBay as they refunded him, and so appealed. They granted the appeal but for some reason never refunded , done this 4 times. Today I rang them and they say it was denied by higher ups. Abd I need to provide proof from the company that it wasn’t delivered !!! The thing is the company phone lines are not open due to covid, it’s some unknown pallet courier, and if you track it on there site it just says “out for delivery “ not “delivered” or “returned” etc. Surely that should be proof enough that it wasn’t delivered?

iT HAS To be online viewable tracking number from a commercial carrier,which means when you go to the website of the carrier and enter the tracking number ,it shows delivered to your address.
did the buyer enter the tracking number and website address of the carrier in the case,if he has open the case.

Don't they have a dedicated team for eBay motors as they are rather separate from the normal eBay.com ?

I'd absolutely call that shipping service and get data from them and see where they shipped the engine back

No it’s normal eBay. And when you track it on the company website it says “depot scan out for delivery” the company phone lives are closed due to covid 19 and the messaging service is just generic replies.

I know with Ebay motors,one does not have to accept Paypal,sellers can accept a deposit via Paypal and may not have to refund if buyer does not take delivery.
There is a dedicated team in Ebay customer service which serves hi value customer,any order over $1k

if your buyer has open a case,he should have entered the tracking number and the carrier in the case.

Hi. Yes they did enter the tracking info into the case. But the tracking does not show it as delivered. Here is the tracking.



They have also sent this, no idea what it is but I suspect it’s what eBay are using as proof of delivery I have marked outdone details.

Hi I had a very simmer issue with a big order of £500 buyer wanted to return due to arriving late even know I sent it by next day delivery and was stated in listing would be 3 to 5 days eBay accepted the return and he added tracking and said it had been delivered and I did not receive it or no one around my area . Contacted eBay but that told me to go to fraud police team and thair was nothing eBay will do . I think you have a similar out come eBay will want nothing to do with helping you

Surprised eBay has given them a refund as eBay normally wait until it shows as delivered

No, eBay has refunded people before even when an item doesn't show delivered.

BUt keep in mind, on the reverse end it doesn't matter if you have tracking or not.
They'll usually side with the buyers .

Very very rarely in cases like this,. Now, if the seller provided the label, or paid for the label. Then yes. Does not matter if it's delivered or not.

I was asked to provide a label but didn’t due to the nature of the item. So the buyer organised the courier himself. I spoke to ebay again today and told them it shouldn’t be up to me to provide any proof of non delivery as I didn’t send it. The guy was not having any of it though.

THEN your only option left is to contact the carrier and try to locate the engine,canyou send a letter?

If the last scan is "out for delivery" then you did not get it back.

Spoke to ebay again today. They have said I need something from the courier accepting that the did not deliver, a letter, email or something along those lines. The problem is last time I spoke with the courier they explained they couldn’t help me too much as i wasn’t the person who placed the order.

I think you like many of us have learned amateur buy and sell is not perfect.

the problem is that Ebay has refunded him and if he has used his credit card,then the refund is made by issuing a credit to his card,to get his money back,they cannot just charge his card.
Ebay would have to give you the money out of its own pocket,thats why it is reluctant to do so.
