Hi guys just wondering if eb has started monitoring sort codes for previously banned bank accounts on MP, any experiences with this?
I just noticed one account had a 5 day review message after I added a natwest savings account and after 5 days account was suspended, obviously the sort code was the same as on a previously suspended account.
Wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience.

They can not ban accounts because of bank sort codes as a huge amount of customers use them at each bank, even legit eBay sellers, if the account number has been used before with another eBay account which has been suspended, then that could trigger it.

Is sort code in UK = routing number?
If so then no. Routing number is just a code to say what bank it is.

Sort code just has details of bank location amd yhe name of the bank, so I guess not as could be thousands of customers using that branch.

ebay absolutely blacklist sort codes , when this happens they do not allow to add any bank account with the banned sort code
if you receive a message about 5 day review this is connected to selling activity and this mostly happens on higher volume accounts where payouts are frequent and go into hundreds and more each

A sort code merely identifies a branch of a bank. They do not ban by way of sort codes.
Even if you put in an unapproved bank, they still wouldn't ban you, they'd simply tell you your account was unacceptable and to try another.
If you're getting banned without appeal then there's something else in your creation process that's at fault, but it ain't a sort code.
I guess it's theoretically possible that if you created 100 accounts in quick succession and they all had the same sort code then it might trigger a review/investigation but to say that an approved bank i.e. Nat West in this case, has had some of it's sort codes blacklisted to the point where trying to input it would cause an immediate ban is simply rubbish...but that doesn't stop some posters claiming it's true for the sake of it. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Hank For This Useful Post: | | |

n the United Kingdom the initial digits of bank sort codes were originally allocated to settlement members of the Cheque and Credit Clearing Company and the Belfast Bankers' Clearing Company. Today, sort codes are issued to any organisation that will be a direct member of a UK electronic payment network (in addition to the cheque clearing systems, this includes BACS, Faster Payments and CHAPS). Non-standard sort codes are issued to payment service providers who need an IBAN, for example for SEPA, as the sort code forms part of this.

may be some sort codes are not BANKS

Both accounts had limits of 50/£600.
The review was initiated a day after inputting Bank details. Natwest (previously banned sort code) got suspended, the one with monzo bank passed.
It's hard to understand why one went down as creation method was same for both accounts.

that depends on what is considered high , if you have a new account and want to withdraw 300 quid for example , that would be very high

No attempt to withdraw money, it was set to monthly payouts.

The frequency of payouts is not an issue, I would not leave a penny with eBay that I can not get out. Even legit not stealth account holders do not trust eBay now and do a daily draw because all it needs is some thing to go wrong and your account could be suspended with the seller not at fault.
As an aside the new personal seller account is set to daily payments as default when you create it.

Payout frequency is not an issue, I always revert to Weekly/Daily payout after first month when there are no automatic holds as new seller.
It's about building a solid account that will last and trying to reduce/minimize any red flags for the account.

I just setup a UK account with its first sale and it only has a 9 day hold on funds, it was an auction sale. Usually selling on a new account doing a buy it now, the first few sales have a 21 day hold. This account will be doing most of its sales as auction to see if this helps the account survive the first few months.
